Recorded in Dublin and in Los Angeles, and produced by Don Was, Voodoo Lounge topped the British charts on its release in 1994. The rockers "Love Is Strong"--featuring Jagger on harmonica--"You Got Me Rocking" and "I Go Wild" all performed strongly in the UK Top 40, while "Out Of Tears" continued the group’s fine tradition of late-night, soul-searching, soul-infused ballads and featured a killer vocal performance by Jagger. The singer also excelled on the equally contemplative "Blinded By Rainbows", a forgotten gem in their repertoire, and the swaggering "Sparks Will Fly", driven by the ever-excellent Charlie Watts on drums. Voodoo Lounge deservedly won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album in 1995. Review: Excellent - Very good album well worth buying Review: stones say no more - arrived very quickly bought this for the out of tears track, but this cd has great tracks all through a good addition to my stones collection.

remaster?
Encouraged by Hot Rocks and Let it Bleed remasters soundwise,I risked buying VooDoo. Well, the original version was very good soundwise but I hoped for still better. Perhaps my mid-fi equipment fails to prove it. Anyway, I'd strongly recommend this item for 1st buyers because of excellent music and nice package.

Well, if you're The Rolling Stones, what are you supposed to do?
By the time of Voodoo Lounge's release, the Stones were recording artists for over thirty years, and inarguably the biggest rock band in the world, and had been so easily since the early 70s. Their albums of the 70s all showed that they were still acquainted with Black musical styles, from the Blues that always has been their main inspirational wellspring, through to Southern Soul, Motown, reggae, funk and even a bit of disco. By the 90s, though, they simply rework what they're good at - taut, riffy rock songs, the odd genre exercise (a bit of Country here and there, which they've always done very well), the odd ballad, but if this reads like I'm knocking them, guess again, because the Rolling Stones doing what they do well is plenty good enough for me, mate. It's odd how your favourite tracks change over repeated listenings (always the sign of a good record, to me); tracks like 'Moon Is Up', which sounds slight on first listening, has a certain indefinable appeal, with it's treated, rubbery guitar sound, and even somewhat cliched lyrical outings like 'Brand New Car' are delivered well, courtesy of a lubricious vocal from a refreshed and energised Jagger. 'Blinded By Rainbows' has something of their 60's 'Satanic Majesties' era, and their token Country effort, 'Sweethearts Together', is a sweet confection. It's not all good, but it follows on well from 'Steel Wheels', wherein Jagger and Richards had seemingly reconciled their differences, and Jagger especially sounds committed and glad to be performing with his muckers. It's also a good album for Charlie Watts (as ever), and the Richards / Wood guitar interplay is great. An enjoyable album, and sounding good in its newly-remastered form.

STONES IN THE VOODOO LOUNGE
I've given this one the five star treatment as well, even though I've only had time to listen through it once. To be honest, I've been building up my collection of the Stones' albums on CD, the last Cassette recording I was able to buy being BRIDGES TO BABYLON. I've still got a few cassettes, but pride of place has to go to the CD rack! I've been a Stones fan since the mid-60's (grizzled old man that I am, they're even older than me), and the first album I bought was the Untitled No1 album! Aftermath followed, Beggar's Banquet and so on. I had THEIR SATANIC MAJESTIES' REQUEST album when it came out the first time, with the layered '3D' image, as well as a few other collectibles like the Andy Warhol STICKY FINGERS album with its zip and 'Y'-Front sleeve and one or two other one-offs - I could have made a mint at auction!

'Voodoo Lounge' is the very best, because it is the album that truly captures ...
Of all the albums that the Rolling Stones brought out in the 1990's, 'Voodoo Lounge' is the very best, because it is the album that truly captures the classic rolling stones of the early 1970's with album like 'Beggars Banquet', 'Let It Bleed' and 'Exile on Main Street'. The material (and Breadth) of songs on Voodoo Lounge, is as classic; as any classic songs on the albums I have mentioned above. Without a doubt, the Jagger and Richard's compositions of songs on Voodoo lounge, could have been chosen themselves for the albums I have mentioned above. The whole album in fact of Voodoo Lounge, is just naturally Classic Rolling Stones although this album. For anyone who appreciates classic rolling stones, then this album is one of the finest listening experiences that you will encounter, from any classic rock album that has emerged from the 20th Century.

Classic stones album
Great album by the Stones... The sum is greater than the parts, no cherry picking as it should be listened to in it's entirety. Superb.

Insgesamt sehr abwechslungsreich, Rock'n'Roll, Blues, Glam Rock, Rock, Balladen, alles da. Mein persönlicher Favorit ist "Brand New Car".
