A pretty good mafia book .....
I like reading the perspective of guys in the street and close to mob activities. Don't expect a literary masterpiece , but it's very readable. What I always have found interesting is how much the mob resembles a family. You have your repeatedly stupid, your uncle and brother in law, your cautious, your risk takers, your hot-headed, your kind, your wiseIt's all in here.

GOOD BOOK, TOO SHORT.
I AM A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED, IN THAT I WAS NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO THE LENGHT OF THE BOOK,WHEN I PURCHASHED IT. ALTOGETHER PRETTY GOOD.GLENN .MIDDLE VILLAGE NY. JULY 27 2021.

Great story from a guy who was there
Great story from a guy who was there. The only "beef" I have was the price. $5 for what amounts to an extended magazine article was a little greedy in my opinion. For that reason alone I wouldn't recommend it.

Fascinating insider account by a Bonanno caporegime
I thoroughly enjoyed the first installment of this series. It's a great concept: a caporegime's tour through recent Bonanno Family history. We've had accounts by bosses (Joe Bonanno, Al D'Arco), and many soldiers and associates (Joe Valachi, Henry Hill, etc.), but almost no accounts by caporegimes, the group leaders on the streets. Cicale is also unusual in that he was based in The Bronx, a black hole in mob history books. This book fills those voids. The result is a lot of fresh insights. Cicale describes the lingering resentments over the Commission-sanctioned hit on Galante, reveals hypocritical narcotics use by high-ranking mafiosi, and recounts a scary/funny story of Cicale bringing a soldier named Gino Gillespie back into line. Scarpo lets Cicale tell his story, while providing context with solid background history, too. This is a valuable new addition to Bonanno Family history. It's a great bargain, too. Looking forward to the next volume.

AJ's review of a great true mob book called Cosa Nostra News: The Cicale Files vol I: Inside the Last Great Mafia Empire
Great book!!! 5🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫 out of 5 guns!!! A very real look inside the Bonnano crime family and one of their powerful crews in the Bronx through the eyes of former capo Dom Cicale who was Vinny Basciano's right hand man and best friend before switching sides and agreeing to cooperate with the Feds. The book puts you right in the thick of things and gives an insiders look into some major events in the history of the Bonnano family such as the hit on Galante and the 3 captains a few years later as well as the more recent murder of George from Canada. The book also gives you a look at some of the big players in Bronx faction through the eyes of Cicale who along with Ed Scarpo put together a wonderful book. Scarpo who is the man behind the great Cosa Nostra News site and Cicale make a great team and I'm looking forward to Vol II

Not interesting. Boring.....
Most of this small book is the author rehashing things that have been told hundreds of times. The 3 Capos Murder, the Gilante Murder, the Bononno Family founding. Nothing ground breaking or new here.Dominick Cicale's story is very small and frankly not very interesting? Boring? It just kinda sits there. If you like Mob books and have 60 minutes to kill in an airport, buy the book for $5. If you are looking for an exciting read, this certainly isn't it.The writing is poorly done and has a really unfolding way it is written. Very amateur.

A good read for mob enthusiasts
A good read for mob enthusiasts. It gets to the good stuff right away and stays on target. These books are always better when there are first hand accounts and these stories benefit greatly from Mr. Cicale's telling. Like the short form format and look forward to Vol II.

Ready for Volume 2
I thought this was very interesting. I like that it went back to the beginning of how the mafia started. I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in the mafia and can't wait for Volume 2.
