The Expositor's Bible Commentary - Abridged Edition: Two-Volume Set

It is very unfortunate that the product had been damaged in transit (I assume). This is not the first time I have received damaged goods, but unfortunately will learn to live with it, as I am sure those involved in the act of damaging the item had hopedAs had been advertized, this product met my expectations and is a very useful and thought-provoking commentary. Very happy thus far.

I put these volumes to use as soon as they arrived. I’m really enjoying them and sharing helpful info out of them with our Life Group.

I actually bought the set because I only had the New Testament version. I like the NT so much that I wanted the Old Testament and it was cheaper to buy a set than the OT by itself. It does a good job of giving the background of the scriptures in a form that you can understand.

I got myself these two volumes for Christmas, and I was really excited to open them and begin using them. They came in a nice open-sided box in which they can both be stored in on the shelf. As I was paging through my New Testament volume I came across a page that was folded inward. When I straighten it, it extends beyond the edge of the book. It was obviously trimmed in this position. I'm one that likes a new book to really look new and don't like bent pages. So I was disappointed.If not for that, I would have given this 5 stars. I do look forward to using the GK numbering system to cross-reference Greek and Hebrew words that are used throughout the Bible. I love language and think this is a great feature.

The Expositor's Bible Commentary is a wonderful Bible commentary. This rendition is a two-volume set that covers the Old Testament (Hebrew Bible) and New Testament in two distinct books.Pros: This commentary set gives you the historical, cultural, linguistic, archaeological, and interpretive information you'd expect from this series but in an abridged format. For those who cannot afford the full set or who do not have the room the extra books this is a great investment that you will enjoy.Cons: None that I've found thus far.Overall: What you are getting is a great commentary that will certainly enrich your reading and understanding of the Bible. Enjoy!

I am completely satisfied. The commentary is easy to understand, not too lengthy to covers a lot. The delivery was very fast and books came in excellent condition. Highly recommend this commentary, and excellent buy.

Just what I was looking for. Last trip through the Bible I used Matthew Henry's concise commentary and wanted something different.This book does stretch my brain as a lot of words used are new to me but I like the deep thinking it provokes.

Great handy and versatile resource for most bible studies or teaching needs.

This 2-vol book set represents amazing value. It is light in weight because it uses bible paper, great bible-style printing, intext b/w photos and overall looks pretty and inviting sitting on the book shelf. The build quality is great and can handle the beating of daily usage.The commentary text block is conservative, devotional and from many top notch bible scholars and some theologians. The commentaries have decent amount of historical and cultural information to shine a new light at verses and passages. For the most part, the commentary is verse by verse layed-out in 2 columns per page, usually allowing for avg 10-12 lines per verse. Theologically important verses and passages are covered in much greater lengths and covers applications for contemporary times.If you want to pick just one commentary to accompany your bible, IMO this is the best choice because of the sweet spot coverage and good commentary depth, great build quality and a roster of renowned scholarly contributors. Believers bible commentary 2018ed is also an excellent though 2nd choice (more accessible price point and greater application focus rather than social/cultural/theology emphasis).

Amazing book, really helpful in understanding the bible/preparing sermons etc, worth every penny!

Perfect and handy commentary for quick reference. Affordable for a common person. Arrive it perfect shape. Took a lot of time , which was mentioned at the time of purchase, no COD facility available.
