What a great idea someone had! Saves so much time, especially when work hardening jump rings...

Good product
Price is ridiculous. A wire distributor, has it for 6.50!

It wasn't quite what I expected, but it will work.
For my more delicate filigree, I think I'll wrap the blocks in leather, since I expected the pieces to be made of something with more "give", and I got it to use for the delicate wire work. but it's pretty cool for bigger flat pieces, and doesn't leave toolmarks like a hammer.

Wack it good!
I bought this to harden wire for jewelry and stop marring my desktop. I have a tiny studio and this is a very nice small size to wack the wire a bit and get it to stiffen. One thing is to remember to hold it from the top, not the sides as pinching the fingers when you whack it does sting a bit.

It Works.
But not as well as they make it sound. It does straighten the wire, but it does not strengthen the wire. It is also very loud, the plastic "smacking" together frightens my dog every time I use it. So I know lay it flat and press on the two pieces with all my weight. It's OK.

Useless for its intended purpose, but makes a great cutting board
I ordered the Wire Whacker because I'm familiar with the Bead Smith brand and have previously used their products with success. I was excited when it arrived sooner than expected. I placed my first wire piece between the two "boards" of the Wire Whacker and gently hammered it as described in what little instructional information was printed on the box (another downside, by the way). The "boards," made of the same polyethylene material used in cutting boards, were far too soft to be of actual use in "hardening" wire. Sadly, the Wire Whacker has proved to be a sore disappointment. But I did need new cutting boards for small jobs in the kitchen, so it hasn't been a complete waste of my money.
