Small book
I got this book as a gift that I had requested here on Amazon. I did not know however how small it was going to be! Of course that is my bad that I did not look at the dimensions of the book before hand but I wanted to warn others. I love these kinds of books that lets the reader learn new information in a small amount of time. This book is organized well and has already been a hit at my house. I can see myself putting this small book into my purse or keeping it in my truck for reading material. Each subject has one to two pages on it. For instance there is a science section and two pages are devoted to the explanation of what the big bang was.Just a fun book for young adults and adults to learn bit sized information in a small amount of time. I highly recommend it and this kind of book is my kind of book. If you like this kind of book also check out the revised and updated book by DK publishing called 'Visual Dictionary'

Good book. There is a reception deadspot in my girlfriend's bathroom that renders my phone internet connection useless. Just about the right about if information (which is both entertaining and intellectual) for the duration of the time I need in my cell-free zone.

Quick look, helps determine what to take a deep dive into.
I'll be retiring in a few years, am reading this book and marking things that catch my imagination to follow-up on in the future.

Maybe too brief?
These are a little superficial, but what do you expect in 100 words or so? I was hoping for some intriguing nuggets of information about the different topics, but so far I haven't come across any. I have even seen a couple of inaccuracies. Still, it's fun, and makes a great bathroom book.

Great Gift
I bought this and two others (Math in Minutes and Science in Seconds) for gits, they're all really great books. Every page is a brief summary of a big concept, which is a great way to understand the basics and launch further reading. Great for the coffee table, highly recommend.

Keep on an end table for a quick read
Men and women alike are intrigued by this book. I keep it on an end table by the sofa, convenient to pick up and sample or read more. It is a conversation starter. I gave 3 others as presents, and all were happy to get it.

Good basic introduction
A very simple, sometimes simplistic explanation of big ideas from Western history. Would suit an absolute beginner as long as it is taken to be just a beginning.

A fun and easy-to-dip-into introduction to many ideas.
Along with other "in moments/in minutes" titles, this is a great little read. What I found it most useful for was filling in gaps in time when you can't really spin up to speed in a novel - those 3-4 minute wait for Tube trains etc. The "essays" in this tome are a couple of hundred words each and every one teaches something. If there's a fault, it's with the Table of Contents. It exists, but only links to the broad subject headings (Philosophy, Religion, Science, Politics etc) and isn't explicitly referenced as a link in any Kindle application (You have to go to "Front Cover" and click forward a few pages.) That's why this Kindle edition got a 4 rather than a 5.

Is it all possible ?
An interesting easy to read book which is worth reading prior to going to a dinner, there would be no shortage of conversation and I am sure the concepts would be developed further
