I purchased one set of 6 light bars to try starting seedlings this year. The light worked so well that I am purchasing 2 more for the additional shelves in my mini greenhouse. I put the plants very close to the light, about 4 inches, to start and gradually moved them further away as they grew, they are now transplanted into the garden and doing well. The great thing about these lights is that you can place them in any arrangement; my mini greenhouse shelves are an odd size, so these were the only ones I could find that fit well. I covered a 24X14 inch shelf easily. The lights also link, which makes them easy to fit all in one outlet. They were easy to put together (do think through your placement first or place them and then plug them together...I didn't plan ahead and had to backtrack a few times, but that was my fault, not a problem with the product!) The only drawback is the visual appeal: the plants love it, but my husband says the dining room resembles an 80's disco with the bright pink lights, and even the neighbors have asked what the pink glow is in our window! They are well worth the price and great for starting seedlings to later transplant to outdoors.

Buy these! Easy to set up and use right away. More importantly, these grow lights work extremely well for which they are intended - to grow plants! I start all my vegetable plants from seed. The lights are meant to hang above the shelf secured with plastic straps. The ratings for this item are based on warmth, ease of use, and versatility. Rating based on Versatility? Not sure why this rating is included. These grow lights used to grow plants. To base a rating on this product for its warmth feature is ridiculous. The nature of energy-efficient grow lights, they aren't supposed to be warm. They are supposed to emit light waves to grow plants. The ratings for this product should be about 1. energy efficiency, 2. growth rates of plants, and 3. durability/reliability which earns a 5.0. This light system works well with Amazon's metal wire shelf unit 82"x48"x18" Sturdy Steel Heavy Duty 6 Tier Layer Rack with castors for $118 at this writing plus the lights were a lot cheaper than buying a grow-system.When the seedlings are small, I use boxes to set my trays onto to raise them closer to the light source. As the plants get bigger, I use smaller boxes as the plants grow up. If I had one complaint, it would be that the company does not sell in units of 2 or 4. Two units will be set up for one 48" shelf, so a set of 6 lights covers 3 shelves. For my needs last year, three shelves were enough, (used the rest for storage) but I'd really like to expand to one more shelf which requires two lights. I don't need all six.

Works good, I like how they give you several different ways of attaching and/or hanging them. It allowed me to fit them in my greenhouse exactly how I wanted.I was worried they wouldn't be bright enough but they are more than bright. Maybe too bright, if I took out a few sections they would still light up my whole greenhouse.

Starting seeds now so hopefully all goes well. Lights are nice and great for the price. Easy to install to shelving of any sort and I love that you can plug them into each other or separately into an outlet/strip and they all have a separate on/off switch on their cord. The only thing I didn't think of before ordering is that there isn't a way to hang them from shelves to adjust the height as the seedlings grow... am I missing something? Is that what the zip ties are for? I'm just putting things (books and foam insulation) underneath trays to bring them up to the right closeness to the lights and I'll adjust as time goes on. If anyone has any tips on how to make these height-adjustable with chains, let me know for next year.

I bought these awhile ago and waited to write a review so I could let people know how they really worked over time. I think I’ve had them about a year and they have made every plant I keep under them incredibly healthy and happy. My husband built me a plant shelf that has 5 - 12” shelves. I have 2 lights about 12” above the plants. I was worried these wouldn’t be strong enough for my succulents and I couldn’t have been more wrong. All of my succulents have turned the most amazing colors and are really nice and compact. I had 8 different small Hoyas on a very sunny windowsill for over a year and they didn’t grow at all. I moved them to my plant shelf 3 months ago and they all have exploded with tons of new growth. My Strawberry begonia was unhappy no matter where I put it in my house and ended up dying. Before it died, I cut off the last 4 little babies it put off and planted them in one pot and put them under these lights. They love it. I’m going to have to move them to a much bigger pot, because they have grown so much, and they are all putting off tons of runners with babies everywhere. My Impatiens and AV’s are constantly blooming. Every plant that lives under these lights loves it! They were so easy to hang/install. My husband just daisy chained them together with the long extensions provided so there is only one plug in my outlet and there aren’t wires all over the place. I researched lights for months before I finally decided to try these. I had already used a bunch of other kinds with poor results, so I didn’t expect much. I was so wrong. These were the best thing I have purchased for my plants and I intend to buy more. For the cost, ease, and incredible results, I fully recommend these to everyone.
