Tom TierneyColonial and Early American Fashions (Dover Fashion Coloring Book)

What a great book! The line drawings are detailed and full of life. The people are individuals. Out of dozens of similar books, I bought this one because the couple on the cover look so happy together. The book shows outfits worn by a variety of nationalities and social classes, from wealthy merchants and aristocrats to servants, farmers and even a few pirates.I'd say the illustrations are about 50% male, 50% female. Each page has a paragraph written by Mr. Tierney that tells a little about the outfit and its significance, plus suggested colors to use. In the back are several pages of hats, boots and other accessories with helpful captions. The pages are double-sided, so I'm just going to photocopy every other page onto good paper to color it. The pages aren't perforated, so I use an Xacto blade. I grew up with Dover books, and I can't believe this book is still just $5.00. It has prompted me to order another Tom Tierney book - looking forward to it!

I have a bunch of Tom Tierney’s paper dolls but this is the first coloring book I have purchased. I love the coloring book! Tom Tierney never disappoints! The designs are beautiful, intricate, and well crafted! The only problem is that the pages of double sidles so you can’t use markers and even colored pencils bleed through if you color to hard. Besides that, the coloring book is wonderfully done!

This is a great coloring book. Though I will not color in it. I need this book only as a drawing reference book. The clothing in that time period were fabulous. If I do decide to color the pages, I will copy the page first.

My 12-year-old daughter loves Tom Tierney's coloring books. She loves the beautiful artwork and the details in the drawings. I like them for the historical information she learns in reading about the fashions. Also, his description of what the historical fashions would have looked like encourages her to put together colors she might not have considered. These are such favorites with my daughter and granddaughter that my daughter requested copies of the ones she had already colored so that she could do them again.

Some people might like this book but the pictures were not really my taste. I like some of Tom Tierney's other coloring books better.

Another Wonderful coloring book that not only gives you something to color, but the captions at the bottom teach a lot as well. Could be used for children very well. Any of these historic fashion books give a lot of information. I like anything by Tom Tierney!!!!!

I was having trouble locating coloring books from the early years so went to the computer....and wow....got too many to chose so bought one of most of them.I have a granddaughter that is artistic and also into fashion so she loved the book (Have only given her one, saving some for Christmas).Hope to order more when I have time.Ijjami...Missouri

The main reason I was attracted to this coloring book is because my ancestors go back to a colonial America and its fascinating to see what people typically wore back then. Especially my ancestors who were mostly poor farmers

A good colouring book for older children and adult colourers. Some very complex colouring which takes time. The pictures are clear and the paper is good quality. An all round book which gives hours of fun/relaxation.

Great book really good for adults who like a coluouring challenge. I would recommend this to others hours of fun. ZZZZZZZZ
