Use features like bookmarks, note taking and highlighting while reading 57 Scientifically-Proven Survival Foods to Stockpile: How to Maximize Your Health With Everyday Shelf-Stable Grocery Store Foods, Bulk Foods, And Superfoods (The Survival Collection). Review: Great Practical Book - There are a lot good “Survival” books out there and this one is no exception. There are a lot of topics and information within this fast-reading little book that make this book unique. Many survival books seem to concentrate on stocking up on guns, gear, and freeze-dried food. Yep, I have done that but this book goes beyond that and concentrates on your basic foods that you can buy in the grocery or bulk foods store. I particularly like his suggestion concerning the LDS Home Storage Center for bulk food purchases. I plan to look into this option and buy foods from this source. I have not seen this mentioned in any other book. In my opinion, this book stands out in a class by itself. If there is any one word that I can use to describe this handy little book it’s simply just PRACTICAL. This paperback is filled with ideas concerning nutrition, bulk foods, which foods would be useful during a survival situation, and much more. There is a Zillion links in the book that gave me almost too much information. I like the fact that these links are also on his webpage: rethinksurvival.com. My personal preference to just having hard copies of my survival books, but that’s just me. For the cost, great information, links, and just downright knowledge this is a “must have” book for anyone serious about these uncertain times. I highly recommend this book. I know what I’m talking about because I was into surviving since the 70s when we were called Survivalists. Review: Darn fine guide book for beginners, intermediates and pros alike. - Something for everyone, ignore the apocalyptic wannabe doomsday survivalist snobs, this is about prepping ..... insurance for your family. As a long time prepper I downloaded this book with the idea that maybe, perhaps, I might learn something new. I've done it in the past with prepper oriented books and been disappointed. After all, I'm retired, have been prepping on a farm since the '60s and I'm a former paratrooper and survival training pro who has seen quite a bit in my lifetime, lived it ... and tried to pass it on to my kids and grandkids. So imagine my surprise when I told my wife how much I was enjoying this book, (halfway through), and how on-point Damien is with his advice and suggestions. Furthermore, I actually learned something about two items in particular in the superfoods chapter. I'm giving this book 5 stars and it is well earned. I do not know the author personally but he has done his research, put it into practical application, and he is sharing that knowledge ... I feel as if we are kindred spirits. Oh, btw, one of the absolutely redeeming qualities contained within this electronic version are the number of hot links to various information sources and reference materials that most readers should find interesting if not invaluable. Enjoy this book, take it as one heckuva guideline to, (at the very least), get your family and you started down the path of personal responsibility for your own well-being in times of strife and hardship. Those times always come, always, they always do either on a personal level, a regional level or a national level. How much of a hardship they might be will be determined by you, here and now. Start with food, with this book. Then first aid, them firearms and keep going. You'll know when you are done.

Darn fine guide book for beginners, intermediates and pros alike.

There are some useful ideas here
There are some useful ideas here that I will consider as I prepare to feed my family in an emergency. The basic items are kind of a no brainer, but the quantities needed and some resources for acquisition are helpful. The author includes a list of super foods that would help sustain overall health and body comfort that I hadn't considered. Very useful. Overall this is a useful primer to the idea of long-term food storage for survival.

worth reading
I’ve been interested in storing food for preparedness since 1980 when a volcano affected the region I lived in. This book will give you a good start to storing food if you have no experience. If you’re more seasoned, you’ll find that it’s still worth reading. It’s good to read another person’s thoughts on the matter to measure your preps against. Buy it. Read it. Reference it annually.

Succinct but potent
Was exactly what I was looking for, sharing info in food you can get from the grocery store that’s nutritious and shelf stable.

ok for quick read through via borrowing, but not a book to add to prepper collection
It's "OK". If you can borrow this from kindle unlimited, then it is an Ok read through. Quick, but not as informative as I was hoping for. A lot of links that I will never look at, and the information is oddly not all that helpful to me. Basically a list of foods, with some not so scientific info. It's lacking, I guess. I read a lot of stuff of this ilk, and I tend to find most of it disappointing, and I guess this doesnt disappoint in that context, haha. Again, fine for a quick read through via borrowing, but I wouldnt add this to my book collection in any format.

Succinct and informative
I usually pick up a can or two of food storage #10 tins when I’m at Walmart. This guide gives me more direct information on what precisely I should focus on instead of choosing randomly as the mood hits me. It also has links to various sites that will help organize and prioritize your food storage journey. I’m very impressed with this authors use of direct tables and talking points to help you choose the best foods for your specific needs as well as his overall approach at nutrition. Each section making sure to give you the best knowledge for your family. Thank you so much.

I would have been better off standing on a bridge and throwing the money over the side. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

This looks like a very good book. I am unsure if this works in hard times and hope I don't have to find out, but the information would be very handy if needed.
