Red Bean Bag Camera Support for Compact Cameras

I was mislead by the reviewer who said this works for a camera with a big lens. No way. I have a panasonic gh2 and got a 100-300 mm lens for my upcoming African safari. This bag won't work for that. I bought the green one, same size but the screw is closer to the edge, and it's a perfect fit. Other than sitting this on top of a safari van (perfect for that), I'm not sure where else I'll use it. For this thing to be useful you do have to sit it on something and it really doesn't tilt up or down well.

Handy, but doesn't extend far enough forward to balance a longer lens on. It works well on a wall or solid, non-pointy fence, and worked best to keep distant objects sharper than I could handhold without cranking the ISO up beyond my preference for reducing noise.

As an amputee I usually shoot pictures seated in or just around our car. I've been capturing fabulous shots of flowers, trees, and landscapes here in Colorado using a long lens. Tried tripods but my prosthetic leg keeps hitting a support. This Bean Bag Camera Support is ideal! Not heavy like the over-the-window bean bags, I keep it attached to my smaller, point-&-shoot camera and use a second one on my larger camera. My videos are better, too, with this simple support. Do have to unmount it to get at the battery or SD card, but the mounting screw is quite sturdy and easy to work. Will order a third, in the larger size, as soon as my new camera arrives (ordered via Amazon).

This is a very convenient, stable "tripod" that you can pack and use anywhere. The only disadvantage of this over a regular tripod is that you can't angle your camera for vertical photos, and of course you can't elevate it without something to place it on. I've used it to shoot long video and it stays in place, could probably even absorb a little shock without jittering. It's easy to set up, holds your camera securely, and is more or less infinitely adjustable within the horizontal plane.

I just came back from a three week safari where I shot 1500 frames, almost all using this bean bag to rest the camera on the roof of the safari tour vehicle (these trucks have pop up roofs). While the Pod cannot support a long lens without you also holding the camera, it was an easy accessory to help stabilize the camera for my photos. Durable and light.

Even suitable for mobile phone. Wish the vinyl bottom was a bit “stickier”.

I use the red pods for larger video cameras. They give just enough support to shoot from the ground or use on a support like a rock or fence post. They also lend some weight for handheld shots. Great for outdoor on-the-move shooting. Very sturdy, have only had to replace when I've lost them.
