Baader Planetarium 2-Inch Clicklock Mirror Diagonal Eyepiece

Highly recommend as a 2-inch diagonal. I'm all in for clicklock. Works great, just as advertised. Much better than doing the threaded backpiece drill in the dark.

This is a truly exceptional diagonal. The click lock ring easily secures any 2" barrel accessory I've put in it with little force on the ring. This diagonal has more clear aperature than I thought was possible for any 2" diagonal. For once my larger 2" eyepieces can take full advantage of an guaranteed unobstructed light path. I've particularly noticed some light throughput increase with large eyepieces. For example my 35mm Panoptic has a huge clear aperture. It didn't give me very bright images with my stock 2" diagonals. But with this diagonal images look noticeably brighter in my 6" refractor. Particularly on large dim objects like M31. The 2" barrel unscrews so you can screw the diagonal onto a SCT directly. I do not reccomend this as the diagonal will not be rotatable. I recommend for the best results with Schmidt/Maksutov Cassegrains is the Baader SCT click lock adapter. Put that onto your SCT and then plop this diagonal in for best results. This is a very pricey diagonal, but not one that anyone is likely to replace, ever. In my opinion only a Seibert Optics diagonal could ever possible be better. This diagonal is that high quality. The click lock design though is something that will make me always reccomend this diagonal to others. Some people have complained about the alignment bieng off. There is a way to adjust the collimation, but I haven't tried to do it. As for the reflectivity of the mirror it is by far the best I've seen. Baader sure knows how to do quality hard coatings should you ever need to clean the mirror.

The Baader clicklock 2" diagonal is a surburb product that is very easy to use. I was able to attach it to my 14" EdgeHD Celestron CGEM-DX telescope with the tube from the existing 2" diagonal that came with the telescope. I really like the convenience of being able to switch between eyepeices without having to release 2 screws that may be hard to loosen in the dark. I have used some very heavy Celestron, Explore Scientific and TeleVue eyepeices and they stay in the diagonal upside down and every other way the scope is pointing until I wish to change it. With just a small movement of the clicklock ring the eyepeice comes out very easily. No more scratching or denting expensive eyepeices with screws that dig into the sides of them. The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of five is the perceived very high cost of it. If possible Baader should make a clicklock attachment that will screw into an existing 2" diagonal housing. Now I have a spare 2" that came with the scope that I wont use.

Packed well and shipped quickly from the UK. Great price for this item. I matched this with my new Celestron 8” HD Nexstar Evolution and a Baader Planetarium 8-24 Mk IV with great results. This diagonal is made of quality products and mirror quality is very good. I can quickly change eyepieces and secure them with the easy to use click lock mechanism. I am pleased with this product.

Beautifully engineered with performance to match. One caution - my configuration also includes the Baader 2 to 1.25 adapter. I also have a set of Pentax SMC smaller diameter eyepieces and have a machined adapter for those that fits the 1.25 opening WITH NO SHOULDER. So the first time I used the excellent twist to release feature of the eyepiece holder, everything dropped onto the mirror!!! On the positive side, miraculously, there is no visible damage at all to the mirror surface after cleaning. I was lucky. Be careful! Excellent investment.

This is another awesome product from Baader, quality product with a good large aperture.The reason for 3 starts, is because the package I got from Germany was manually sealed with transparent tape, making it to look dubious for a new product!

Great quality, build. Mirror is so perfect, it is practically invisible. The clicklock is nice, but while releasing it the whole lock tends to unscrew from the diagonal. They should have put some tiny allen screw to secure the clicklock to the diagonal body. Other than that, this is a great diagonal, holds all the heavy eyepieces, camera securely.
