Hoof Trimmers Goat Hoof Trimming Shears Nail Clippers for Sheep, Alpaca, Lamb, Pig Hooves Multiuse Carbon Steel Trimmer

These are a cheaper version of the hoof trimmers I usually get, so i had very low expectations. Figured they'd get stuck, the spring would come off, they'd get dull fast, and just be a pain to work with. I was very wrong! These are just as nice and quality as the more expensive ones. They stay sharp for quite a while (i do 60 goat's hooves quarterly - it worked for doing over half of them before I swapped trimmers, not for any reason besides they look the same as my others lol), they cut very nicely, the spring stays in place well despite my abuse of them, and they are easy to handle.

This is the second time I've repurchased this trimmer! It is super durable and its sharpness cuts right through the hoofs I need to trim for my Nigerian dwarf goats. They're easy to handle, and don't feel slippery when trying to trim which helps me have a steady hand. They do rust if left outside. Much better than. the other kinds I've tried from TSC and other retailers. It's so easy to use and the locking mechanism is easy to maneuver as well!

I am still a "newer" goat owner, and have two Nigerian Dwarf Goats (a wethered boy and his sister who identify more as dogs/pets than for breeding/milking aka spoiled kids) who are over 1 year old at the time of this review. While I have experience trimming all types of nails (silkies, dogs, neonatal kitten emergency foster fail now kitten mom, bunnies...) their trimmers came with a safeguard option (my pits have black nails) which help ease the fears of cutting their nails too short ... and I use a dog approved nail dremel after so these spring loaded looking trimmers were a little intimidating at first, but they are actually great! **I do not have a stand setup for my goats yet to trim then and use the power of my quads to hold them in place so the quickness and ease of cutting is paramount when testing their tolerance to mommy's pawdicures. The size is also great for this smaller breed, and the price point is also really good compared to my local feed store (plus prime shipping? Yes, please!) It is important to note that you do need to be mindful while using if your goats may tend to shift or try to kick while trimming to avoid trimming too much, but I find the functionality overall well worth the cost of these trimmers. In the future, I may upgrade, but for now these are a great option.(I also watched several videos I found on YouTube showing appropriate ways to trim hooves and also follow a trending Cow Hoof guy on social media).

I wouldn't say it's a bad product. Its super sharp and beautifully cuts printing paper (better than some scissors I have) but at the same time it has a defect in it.When sheers are closed all the way the tips end up criss crossed (see pics). And since I need to do precision work on the hoofs I'm not sure how will it affect performance.Hope it only applies to the ones I received. Got these for trimming my goats hooves. Works great and is very sharp. Good value for the money!

I was unhappy with these because they are too sharp. I only used them a couple of times…when I did, I accidentally cut too deep on my goats’ hooves. These are difficult to control, would rather use something I can trust. I trim a lot of hooves! Get these instead, much better quality:

So far, so good. Nice and sharp, and makes hoof trimming a breeze! Especially for a goat newbie!
