You car came with one socket? Want more? Look no further...
Did your car come with only one 12V Socket? Do you have long trips in your car where you wish you could charge your MP3 player or phone while you're cruising instead of watching that battery plummet? Well, look no further because this adapter will solve all these problems. Some info about the unit:This is a full kit, you not only get the unit, but you also get two methods of attaching the unit. One is the easier, less time consuming, velcro strip option. The other 2 small thread screws that allow for a more "permanant" attachment.I went the velcro route, I did not have the time or the tools to install the screws, plus I did not want to mess with my console so I used the strips and I attached it in the storage space above my ashtray. I drive an 08 Accord and the room in there is pretty spacious allowing for fair usage of the space while the adapter unit is present. Something I was very happy about as I am now able to hook my phone and charge it as its stored under the adapter.I purchased a different adapter previously for my old car, I cannot recall the name but it came with 4 sockets, 1 USB and had ON/OFF buttons on the opposite side for each socket. I was going to a second one of those, but I needed 2 USB ports and 2 sockets were enough for me (vs. 4 on the old). Another major selling point to me was the inclusion of a 15A FUSE breaker. That is pure gold right there (fig). Having such a feature insures that no matter how dumb the user is (mind my language, but I'm stating a point here), they will not be able to ruin their car by running a device exceeding the AMP limit through it. I've known of people that attempted to run air pumps through their 12V socket and ended up burning the entire housing. Literally, there was black stains around it. With this unit, it will never happen, as the fuse will blow up before any damage can be done.Pros:In conclusion, I have an error-proof device, it gives me a second socket to the one and only original socket that came with my car. GPS, phone, mp3 player and radar detector all getting power, and I don't need to worry about extra bulky adapters.Cons:The absence of an indication light. Not a huge CON in my opinion, but I'd like some visual confirmation telling me that its receiving power. An ideal place would be on the back of the plug, similar to the GARMIN NUVI's charging adapter.Note Regarding Customer Pictures for this product:Also an important note to the buyers out there, the customer pictures attached to this product are not of the same product. The adapter that you see with the USB holes to the left, and has a red indicator light in the center is NOT the same as this product. The product image shown by default is the correct one. Just in case some customers are confused.

Serious gear that's worth the price
When I started looking for a multi-outlet unit that included USB ports, this was one of the few that had two USB ports. You can find much less expensive units on Amazon and especially on eBay, but I guarantee they will be cheaper too. This is a serious piece of kit. When I got it, the first thing I noticed was how solid it seemed. This is not a cheap plastic item meant for ordinary cars. Included are two methods of mounting the unit -- velcro and screws. If you want to use the velcro, the tabs for screws can be left off so they don't stick out -- a nice touch. The power cord is much thicker than I expected or than I had seen on other products; it's a nice heavy gauge wire. There is a label that says not to exceed 20A; I was very surprised to see a 20A fuse on the back. That's impressive. There's an indicator LED to show the unit has power. It's nice and compact. Installation was easy and the plug works fine. Oh, the cable isn't tied up with a twist-tie, it's got a nice reusable velcro strap to keep it under control. Definitely not expected.I bought this to put in my Land Rover right before an off-highway trip to the Mendocino National Forest. I wanted to be able to power the GPS (12v), CB Radio (12v), Cellphone (USB), iPod (USB), and bluetooth headset (USB). It worked great and handled the rough environment just fine. It's small enough that I'm not even sure my wife noticed it when I gave the Rover back to her for commuting to school. All in all, if you just want something so you can plug your cellphone and ipod in at the same time, there are less expensive -- and cheaper -- option. If you want something that will last for a serious application, this is easily worth the price.

Works great best car charger splitter I have used
The product works great... Ive had 3 car charger splitters before but they always break and get hot. This charger however is solid it uses a 20 amp fuse and also doesnt seem to get hot. My last charger one of the ports stopped working and i couldnt change the fuse for it. The other chargers were hinged and always broke after a while just from daily driving and holding my mp3. This product however i was able to clean up my install. I drive an rsx and i didnt need to use the charger on my dash i was able to use the port on the back of my center console and hide the wires under my carpet. The only downside is the install options out of the box you can screw it on or use velcro. I didnt have the space to screw it on also my dash is rubberized so i didnt know if the screws would hold so i tried the velcro it isnt strong at all the bond with the velcro is actually stronger than the adhesive and would not stick on at all to my dash. Instead i used 3M double sided tape and also found a better spot for it between my seat and my center console. I use it to power my ipod classic on a roadtrip griffin dock and power my garmin nuvi 760 and it works great for me since i still have two usb ports for phones and i was able to free up my lighter outlet on the dash if i still need 1 more port.

Never had a problem..
The media could not be loaded. Β I have two of them in my camper. Only problem I have is that the light does not turn off inside. It barely uses any power. However I could hook it to a switch but the power usage is just that little with two of them
