Drawing from the hallowed pages of Scripture and with an eye toward both wonder and ground-level detail, Behold the Lamb of God: An Advent Narrative brings to life the people, the places, and the earth-shaking significance of the greatest story ever told-the true tall tale of the coming of Christ. Review: Thought Provoking and Enjoyable - Point: God has chosen to redeem mankind from their sinful state through the giving of His own Son, the Lamb of God. Path: The author tells the story of redemption from the Fall in the Garden to baptism of Jesus Christ. He presents an interpretive look at the core narrative of the Bible, and brings the reader to the point of God's great gift to this world. Sources: The Biblical stories, which are at times too strange to be fiction, are brought together in a fascinating presentation of God's great plan. Agreement: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The author's own study, and imagination brought new parts of the story to light, and encouraged me to see rethink past assumptions. Divided into 25 chapters allowed us to pace ourselves through the book and finish on Christmas day. Disagreement: The reader needs to be careful not to accept every word of the author's interpretation as biblical fact. His ability as a storyteller will pull you into the plot, but the Bible does not reveal everything. Personal App: It brought the Christmas story to new light. Favorite Quote: "God cannot be hurried." This book could be read at any time, not merely in preparation for Christmas. It would be worth another read and I would recommend it. Update 12/29/13 We finished reading this book for the second time this Christmas. I found that I enjoyed it more than the first time! It is worth buying and reading every year, even at other times than Christmas. Review: The Word Among Us - An amazing book that travels through Scripture to offer those seeking a way to embrace Advent the story of the Word Among Us. Beautifully written and well received. Thank you.

Wonderful!
This is a must read, especially for Advent. I understood the story and the characters in ways I had never even thought to consider. I love the added context to the Old Testament stories, and they are all sequentially told as a build up and foreshadow to the birth of Christ. Thank you, Russ, for your imagination and disciplined study.

The best biblically based Christmas narrative I have ever read!
I appreciate how Russ Ramsey weaves the gospel into this advent book using the whole bible. He includes references for all the scripture he uses, right in the text, so it is easy to look up any verse covered. Even though this story is very familiar to me, Pastor Ramsey makes it fresh and exciting! It is beautifully and artistically written. I recommend this book for ages 6 and up.

The Story of Jesus' coming leapt off the page!
I loved this Advent book. The historical context brought the Scriptures to life is such a real and powerful way. This is a wonderful book to share with someone who is asking questions about Jesus because it takes the reader through the epic stories of faith and explains why and how Jesus had to come. Immanuel, God with us. I will be reading this over and over again.

Easily one of the best "advent" devotionals around
Easily one of the best "advent" devotionals around. I think this book should be ready at any time of the year. It is tied to Christmas yes, but it really tells the redemptive story of the gospel in a way that should be heard every day. Russ is an amazing story teller and really makes you think about stories from the bible in a different perspective than you probably are used to. Recommend to everyone especially new believers that are not very familiar with stories of the old testament.

Christmas in Perspective
This devotional beautifully described the story of God and His people. The miracle of Christmas doesn't start with Jesus' birth - it starts in the beginning. This was a refreshing look at God's work of redemption throughout the Bible, culminating in the sending of His Son. It put Christmas in perspective, and gave deeper meaning to the celebration of it. But really this would be a great read at any time of year.

Perfect Advent Reflection
I began reading this for the Advent season. I was continually caught up in the way that Russ brought the passages to life in ways I had not previously considered. A wonderful way to stop and reflect on the Redeemer who came near

Amazing advent narrative
I loved how this book shows you the story of Godโs relationship with his people right through the Bible and how Jesus is the fulfilment of all the Old Testament promises.

Daily reading for Advent
An interesting Advent companion, tracing the promised Messiah's birth from Genesis to the events of Christmas. Because it doesn't have a Christmasy feel, it would be a good read any time of the year.

A brilliant read
Thoroughly enjoyed working through this advent themed book, though it's by no means limited to this time of year. It tells the whole narrative of scripture, not just the traditional Christmas story (though in truth the whole Bible is the story of Christmas and Easter). Highly recommended!!!
