Absolutely incredible . . .
If you like classical music, and if you like to hear classical music performed with incredible talent, you should buy this CD. Friends from Germany introduced me to David Garret nearly 3 years ago, by mailing me a CD. The CD cover showed a handsome young guy, holding a violin. I thought, "Oh dear." While I like and appreciate all music (except rap, which isn't music), classical was not always necessarily at the top of my list. So imagine my surprise when the first song on the CD turned out to be a kick-butt version of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal." I was driving at the time, rocking out to such amazing music. A minute or so into the next song, I had to pull over. It was "Who Wants to Live Forever" (which I later learned was made famous by Metallica), and is so beautiful that it brought tears to my eyes. Since then, David brought out another mostly rock-themed CD, "Rock Symphonies," which I highly recommend. Imagine a violin with the range, nuance and emotion of a human voice. Amazing.I've been fortunate enough to have seen David Garrett in concert twice (in Reno in 2010, and in Sacramento in 2011), and he continues to amaze. Aside from the fact that he is drop-dead gorgeous, he's the most talented musician I've ever heard. (Oh, and my German friends are a little jealous because they've been trying to see him in Europe for a few years, where he is a HUGE deal, but have been unable to get tickets -- they sell out almost instantly, plus the tickets are three- to six-hundred Euros per.)"Legacy" is pure classical. No rock infusions. And it's absolutely beautiful.

Music for your Soul
To write or try to describe how music can move you deeply, it could need probably a complete chapter, so to speak. I have been following David's trajectory for several years. Be awared that David Garrett is not an improvised violinist, he is a great performer, a consolidated musician, a Virtuoso. It is amazing and wonderful how a young man, since his early 11 years old, was so mature with his performance, and has come to be into an astonishing violinist. The first time I heard one of his recordings I was so attracted and fascinated, the violin sound was so brilliant, deep and moving at the same time that I couldn't help but only to feel great joy. Since then I have bought every CD. And "Legacy" is by no mistake a precious gift for your ears. The recordings selection and interpretation are magnificent, not only by David's virtuosity as a Violinist but the Director Ion Marin and the Orchestra complete the circle. If you are David's big fan you would enjoy it as I have but if you only have heard David Garrett by reference, you won't be dissapointed with this Legacy Master Piece.

Making His Own Legacy...
Performing classical music will always be David's finest because he is so passionate about it and it's clearly evident in this CD. I think he has brought over more fans to classical music than anybody, that is a goal of his to inspire the younger generation to play or listen to classical music. While David honors those before him on this CD, he is creating his own legacy. The music and performance of David on this CD is outstanding, as on all of his CD's.

Turned me into a violin lover
The CD arrived in good shape and plays well. I didn't really care as much for violin until I saw David on youtube. David is a gem. I know some people hate crossover - but he does it very well. It actually makes you want to listen to his classical stuff too. I bought 4 of his CDs and there is some duplication of his more popular pieces...so pay attention to that when you buy. (But this is common for all popular artists really.)

David Garrett is most definitely leaving a legacy of perfection and many many musicians in his wake!
Another favorite album of mine by David Garrett, the violinist of today! He plays modern, classical, both at the same time, does videos, looks fantastic and is leading an effort to bring youths back to classical music through his crossover pieces. The more one knows of classical music, the more one hears that our contemporary music is actually variations of many classical pieces. WAY-TO-GO DAVID!!

New David Garrett Fan
I bought this CD from Amazon along with Music and Encore. This is a CD for purist classical music lovers. This is music you will recognize but maybe have never heard it played this well. I liked every selection on this CD. He's technically perfect, and his passion and emotion for the pieces he has selected shows. He is also faster on the violin than anyone I have heard before. This CD will stand the test of time.

Spellbound
It is likely you will indeed be spellbound for a time after listening to David Garrett play his ‘Legacy’ pieces for violin and orchestra. The virtuosity of the performance, the varied tone and intensity of the sound, now subtly delicate, now bold and strong like broad sweeps of a painter’s brush on canvas – these are truly astonishing! Beethoven’s violin concerto is rendered in pure classical style of violin, the orchestra sound is wonderfully rich, the soloist shines through, trills and glimmers exquisitely, suggesting nightingales and all sorts of other fanciful imaginings for those who ‘read’ music like pictures, or text. The remainder of the disk is inspired by Fritz Kreisler, but it is different: Kreisler is simple, intimate, enclosed, David Garrett is open, his sound escapes and wanders off in many unexpected ways. His (DG’s) final track is entitled ‘Liebesleid’ (love’s sorrow) and the arrangement here combines most ingeniously Kreisler’s ‘ Liebesfreud’ and ‘Libeslied’ (love’s joy and love’s song). Garrett plays it as a memory of great love that is gone, lost, at times gently, at other times full of deep heartache, no two phrases are the same, and just listen to the final tremor that represents a sob… but I mustn’t spoil it for you by telling how it ends. Apart from the violinist’s outstanding musicianship this track benefits from the contrast with the piece immediately preceding it – the crisp, cheeky Tambourin Chinois. I should add that much thought has gone into devising the sequence of tracks on the CD to provide for similar, striking contrasts.
