Star Wars A-Wing Starfighter 75004

I remember the old space legos from when I was young and the new star wars ones are way better. It was fun putting it together after work over a few beers. Its a nice model, I didn't put any of the stickers on it and it still looks like an A wing, I would recomend not putting the stickers on it at first to see if you like it better that way. The rebel color scheme looks great on it. Also special message for jo-jo, that is NOT a coffee maker, it is the fusion reactor for the A-Wing's Novaldex J-77 Event Horizon engines. Do you think there is time for coffee breaks when you are waging hard core asymmetrical gorilla warfare against the evil Galactic Empire?

Do you have to ask? Actually, if you hate stepping on them at night, then perhaps you shouldn't have them. If you are going to throw them all in a giant rubbermaid container then your kids likely won't play much with them. But get some organizers, line a section of the closet or a wall with them, sort pieces so your kids can find what they want, and teach them to put the pieces away in the sorters or series of containers so that they can find the pieces they need and your kids will start not only building the models, but building and creating their own ideas of space ships, pirate ships and anything they can imagine. This is a great way to develop puzzle solving skills. And when they are adults, (the son I bought this for is in his 20s) they keep buying the models to put them together because they love the models and display them in their homes. If you buy your kid a lego space ship it can become anything at all. If you buy your kid a plastic space ship, that is all it will ever be until a piece breaks and you throw it in the trash. My kids inherited sets from their uncles. We keep the instructions to sets in binders with sheet protectors. Expand your kids imaginations and help them learn. Give them the opportunity to create.

My kid loves Legos, so I'm always looking for sets under $40. Most are neat looking, but shatter the moment they get dropped or bumped. I really like this on because the design of the blocks and the shape of the fighter are less prone to breaking and the parts that do break off easily (like the wing flaps on the back) are easy to put back on. I see this one as one of the better Lego values (Han and others plus fighter = awesome) right now.

For the MSRP of $24.99, you get: 1 Han Solo with double sided face (new 2013 version, exclusive to this set) 1 A Wing Pilot with double sided face (new 2013 version, exclusive to this set) 1 Admiral Ackbar (same as the 2007 version from Calamari Star Cruiser 7754) I just completed the A-Wing and it feels like a cross (in terms of value and size) between the V-Wing (7915 MSRP $19.99) and Saesee's Starfighter (9498 MSRP $29.99). Unlike either of the two, the A-Wing has no TECHNIC mechanics, such as the transformable wings of the V-Wing and the detachable escape pod and adjustable wings on the Starfighter. Instead, you get a static brick-like vehicle that has only a cockpit window and a removable cargo bin behind it. While the color scheme is nice and very Return of the Jedi, this ship seems more like an accessory component of a larger set. Another con is the amount of paper-grade stickers on the vehicle. Most of the other 2013 SW sets come with transparent vinyl, but this set gets matte pieces of decals - all 15 pieces of it on the ship. Way too many stickers for such a small ship. If you're looking for a 2013 SW set around this price, I would buy the A-Wing after the AT-RT (75002) and the battle packs (75000, 75001).

LEGO STAR WARS A-WING STARFIGHTER I wish everyone could have seen my little great-nephew's face when he opened up this STAR WARS LEGO set at his birthday party. Wow! Was he happy. For a five year old, he knows EVERYTHING there is to know about STAR WARS and he also just loves LEGO sets, so this gift was a big hit with Derek. He will receive adult help with this set as the age is defined for a somewhat little older group, that being ages seven through 12. But, as stated, he will do a lot of the assembly himself but with help of the adults in his life. We all know that LEGO sets are very durable, withstand the test of time and little hands. They come with a full set of directions; however, the older boys in our family usually don't even look at the directions, they would rather do the 'putting together part' without instructions. Once put together, the kids in our family generally set up the LEGO item and display it, especially when it is a large item such as this one. But they also spend much time playing with them too -- they use their imagination and have loads of fun doing so. You can't beat LEGO. Yes, they are a bit expensive but when you think of all the pleasure one little kid [and the adult helpers] get from them and how long they last, isn't it worth every penny spent? I will start off that I own the 3 previous versions of the LEGO A-wing starting from the first one in 2000. It is my favorite star fighter of the whole series. The first 2 came as a single set like this one and cost only $15, and then $16. Each came with 2 minifigs, the pilot and a mechanic. So for roughly $10 more you are really only getting an extra minifig in this latest iteration. You are actually getting less total bricks than the 2006 version. Kind of sad, when you think about it. Is it worth it? I think so. This version of the A-wing is the closest it is to the movie. They actually put in the little split nose that all the other models were lacking. Yes, the decals don't feel to be the same quality as previous (sometimes I don't even bother to put them on). The one fault this set has that the previous ones did not, is that the guns cannot rotate 360 degrees. But, I would say that each version of this star fighter has gotten better and better. The Han Solo and A-wing pilot are what really put this set over the edge for me. The detail on them is spectacular, compared to their earlier versions. Admiral Ackbar is a bit of a throw away, especially if you got him in the Home One set a few years back. But if you don't have him, this is a quick way to do so.

This is the first Lego set I have ever had problems with. The first time my grandson and I put it together it just kept falling apart. I took it apart and put it together again and the same thing happened. I finally ended up gluing parts of it together.

I got this for our grandson for his 7th birthday. He was watching TV with his sister and he saw a commercial for this particular Lego set. He had been saying he wanted a Lego Star Wars set for his birthday, and when he saw that commercial, he told his big sister that was exactly the one he wanted. He was quite excited about it. Just then, the doorbell rang. It was UPS delivering this to him. I guess you know that was a a successful gift! He was very happy with it and we have had no complaints about it. Great toy, serendipitous delivery.

Material is of course great Lego quality. The star-fighter design is really cool and the finished size is good. My 8-year old has had hours of fun!
