Chuck Jones: The White Seal [DVD]

I am amazed that with all the new and glossy DVDs we own, that The White Seal is such a huge hit with my 4 year old daughter. She's never asked to watch the new computer animated Care Bears movie or the colorful My Little Pony movie over and over like this one. She loves the white seal and is interested in the story. I originally bought this, Mowgli's Brothers, and Rikki Tikki Tavi because Rikki was a HUGE favorite with my 1st grade class decades ago when I was little. So when my daughter, wanting something new, went through my DVD collection and asked to watch these stories, I was curious how they'd hold up next to all the new kid stuff. But it is facinating how classics never die and will be forever loved by children no matter how out of date they look. This is definitely old style animation and not shiny and glossy like some of the Disney clean ups, but it is is clear enough and a joy to watch-- great story and narration. No sarcasm or crazy weird animated segments-- just a good straight forward story.

I remember this movie as a kid, I LOVED watching it and played it over and over again! This movie does have an agenda about the environment and how evil man is but I still love seeing Kotek fight the odds and save his colony! I had been carrying around the VHS tape for over a decade past the tape player breaking in hopes of someday finding it on DVD or being able to get a player somewhere when lo and behold here it was! Score!

Love this movie .... bought it almost 33 years ago for my son who was 3 at the time and now am buying it for my pre- school kids and their teachers.It’s such a great little video....💕💕💕

Can't wait for my great nieces & nephews to watch this cartoon that I grew up on watching

Just as good as I remembered it as a child

The White Seal is one of my 5 yard old daughters favorite movies. Every time we would go to the library she always had to chek out this old worn VHS. She didn't care that it had lines going through it and that the sound was crackly. When we moved I found the DVD on Amazon so I HAD to buy it since we would no longer be visiting that library. It is still one of her favorites and no matter how long time passes in between She always comes back to this movie.

Chuck Jones brings to life to classic tales that are sure to be loved by the entire family. The stories incorporate exciting elements that both engage children and entertain adults much like its Looney Tunes roots while also focusing on more substansive themes that will teach and develop young minds. Traditionally animated in the classic style that was pioneered by Jones, the vibrant colors and sheer beauty capture the true spirit of his animation genius. If you are a lover of children, animals, animation, or just classic tales then this is the DVD for you.

It's been a long time since I've viewed any of the Chuck Jones' cartoons. When I bought this product, I was looking more towards the Cricket in Times Square story since it was the one I remember from childhood. After I viewed both cartoons, I fell in love with Jones' animation style all over again. It's not often you can look to cartoonists nowadays and recognize their styles, but Jones had a talent for it. His storytelling is beautiful and age-appropriate, and the animation is gorgeous!

I first saw the Cricket in Time Square, nearly 40 years ago. I fell in love with it then, and have been trying to buy it since then. To my amazement, I finally acquirered the movie and, The White Seal as well.It is a lovely cartoon about a cricket form Connecticut, who through his love of Liverwurst ends up in New York. He makes friends with a mouse and then a cat. It shows how he can play any tine, perfectly in tune. He ends up helping out a family by playing music to the New Yorker's who get of the train. He virtually brings the station to a halt.Harmless, but the music is beautiful.

Children all Loved Cricket of Times Square, the Seal item bored them and me.

This is a wonderful dvd. I had it on a video cassette recorded from the television when my children were small. They are 27 and 24 now but I still love little Kotec.
