Excellent choice for the ScoopFree self-cleaning litter box
The ScoopFree automated litter-box is the best thing that's happened to my two cats. They have a clean litter-box five minutes after they're done, and I need to clean it just once a week. That being said, ScoopFree Litter Tray Refills are expensive, running about $150 every two months. So like many others in the "ScoopFree family", I switched from using the pre-packaged trays to the permanent Forever Litter Tray® , designed by Rick Weldon. This works very well, and has significantly dropped the cost of use, and can be used with any crystal litter that is small enough to fit between the grills of the ScoopFree. And therein lie two problems: 1) A crystal size that is too small is less effective at absorbing liquids; 2) Most pre-packaged litter is sold in 8 lb bags (eg. FreshStep) - and each fill of the ScoopFree Litter Tray takes 4.4 lbs.In one move, Just the Crystals solves both problems. It is a perfect fit for the ScoopFree grill, and not so small that it doesn't soak up liquids efficiently. Also, it is shipped as two 4.4 lbs per box - which is two refills of the ScoopFree. The litter doesn't have as much of a perfume associated with it as FreshStep, and is close to being completely perfume-free. The ratio of white to blue crystals is skewed toward white - this makes it easier to visually the state of the litter, and rake it if necessary. Finally, what could be more convenient than having it delivered straight to your door? This is a quality product that perfectly complements that Forever Litter Tray® .I recommend the product very very highly![Edited 5-8-2010 with some tips ...]I've noticed that the negative reviews of this product complain about two issues: a) poor absorbance, and consequently more frequent litter changes; and b) odor control. We have two large Maine Coons (>15 lb), and yet change the litter only every two weeks. During this time, the cats have used the litter box between 55 - 65 times (about 2 times per cat per day). Here is what we do, using suggestions from Rick Weldon's Forever Litter Tray website.1) We rake the litter twice a week.2) We have a small fan diagonally above the Scoopfree that continuously blows a gentle breeze on the litter.3) I scoop the dried poop after 1 week because our cats poop a lot.4) We clip an old sock filled with 1-2 oz of activated charcoal above the litter box. We replace the activated charcoal in the sock every month, but it can probably go much longer. With the raking and fan, no more than 20% of the crystals are water-saturated after two weeks (chalky white or blue in appearance). Scooping the poop at the end of the first week and using activated charcoal provides really good odor control. The fan probably helps with this as well. Before we started using these tips from Rick's website, I had to change the litter every week - sometimes after 5 days otherwise one of our cats, Allie - who's really fastidious, would pee and/or poop right outside the Scoopfree. I started with steps 1 & 3, and that helped quite a bit; Allie would get queasy around the 10 days time-point. After adding 2 & 4 we've never had an issue for as long as we've tested - which is two weeks.I hope this helps .....

Honest & positive review
*** 11/1/18 Update. I still consider these crystals to be the best in quality and odor control. However, my cat has grown to be a urine machine. I feed her only grain free wet food, and her feces is never a problem as there are no grains to cause that awful, poopy smell. But her urine is super strong smelling, and she pees a lot. Whether this has anything to do with her mixed Bengal DNA, I don't know. I've never had a cat that pees as much as this one does. My observation assumes this is mostly due to her wet food diet. Because of the need to change her litter more frequently (every 6-7 days), I have had to search for a more economical product. I'm retired now, and I have to find some way to make the cat bathroom work. If the seller is ever able to sell this litter with a subscription discount, I am definitely interested. For those who aren't as restricted to cost as I am, this is really a quality crystal litter. It works great in the automatic litter box it's designed for.***4/19/18 I'll wait for you! You're my first choice for best crystals for my cat's needs... as well as for my nose!! I hope you get more in soon. There are not any crystal litters as good as yours, imo.I tried out (and retried to make certain) most of the crystal litters and the better clay litter on the market since October when first bringing home my kitten, except for a new brand just out that has no reviews yet. (It says its crystals are rounded.) I purchased the Scoop Free automatic litter box and used that brand's litter and disposable trays for the first few weeks. After that, I felt too guilty about throwing away all those cardboard trays, so went ahead and bought a solid cat box tray designed to work with my model of the cat box. I began to use Just the Crystals in late December. I have to say that they do seriously appear to absorb more, last longer, and control odor better than the various other brands I tried. I'm in a smallish apartment with no extra rooms and must keep the cat box in the bathroom of my master bedroom. I don't care for this arrangement, but there it is. I needed as much help as I could get to keep my home as fresh as possible. I borrowed another reviewer's idea of putting a small HEPA air filter nearby, plus I keep a jar of reeds with Yankee Candle's sparkling cinnamon oil in the bathroom. I'm very pleased with the results. The only reason I might choose to depart from these crystals is if a similar brand with honest, rave reviews comes out at a lower price.

Great product
Great product. I use it with my ScoopFree litter box and Forever Litter tray. The bags have the perfect amount prepackaged and I like that it is dust free. I recently adopted a 9 year old cat and he made the transition from clumping to crystals with no issue. He goes to the bathroom ALOT because he has kidney disease and his food acts as a diuretic... I could not be cleaning clumping litter as much as he needed, so I made the switch to ScoopFree and crystals... it's been fantastic. Even though the amount he uses it is probably equivalent to two normal cats, I easily get 2 weeks between cleans. I have not experienced the strong smell that some users complain of (probably because his urine is not concentrated, due to that food of his). Will definitely keep using and have recommended this product.

Absolutely brilliant!
I have been searching for an eternity to find cat litter that works with my Scoopfree Litter tray, as the cardboard replacement trays, which are quite expensive, have recently been not only overpriced, but poorer quality than the original ones. Discovering this supplier by accident, I thought I would give it a try and also bought the replacement box. I was not dissapointed! This move will save me 50% a year! I only wish I had discovered it earlier. Excellent!

Great litter
This litter works perfectly with the ScoopFree litter box and Forever Litter Tray. The bags are perfectly sized for refilling the tray and they aren't nearly as heavy to carry as is clumping litter. There's no dust when you empty the bag. The crystals do still get tracked outside of the litter box, but not as much as with clumping litter. My 6 cats have access to both Just the Crystals litter and clumping litter. They all use both types interchangeably, though they seem to use the clumping litter a little more frequently. I have a definite preference for Just the Crystals litter because it last weeks before I have to change it and I don't need to scrape the bottom of the litter box to get off clumped-on litter.
