GCI Outdoor Pod Rocker Collapsible Rocking Chair & Outdoor Camping Chair, Indigo Blue

Great camping chair. I bought one for me and one for my wife and we have really enjoyed them. The pod design is comfortable but not hot in the summer and the rocker function is smooth and enjoyable. They are pricier than the cheap camping chairs you can get, but the fabric is thick and well stitched, the frames are solid, and the shock aided rocking function is great. The fact that these fold up into a standard camping chair size in a bag with a shoulder strap is a plus. I've had the chairs that fold up into rectangles and they are much more difficult to transport.

Love it! Super comfy and still packs fairly small

We had the original GCI Rocker Freestyle that folded flat and was awkward to carry (but was still awesome), so we were looking for a more portable option. Picked these up on sale and have loved them! They collapse into a nice travel bag for much easier storage and transport. When open, they are comfortable and sturdy. My only warning is that unlike the classic model where it's more of a seat and you can sit up right, these have you in a more lounging, leaning back position. In addition, these are lower to the ground, so they may not be the best for elderly folks. For me, a middle aged man who get's around well, it's not an issue. As for quality and construction, we have owned 6 GCI chairs of different models for about 3-4 years and they have all held up well. The most I've had to do is to use a little WD-40 to eliminate a squeak. My wife even ran one over and bent the frame, but we still use it! I highly recommend GCI products! The only "negative" would be the weight -- they are not light, but it's not surprising when you consider how sturdy they are. My wife can carry it, but she doesn't like to.

Unlike the other GCI rockers this one doesn't have solid arm rests. They are just cloth extensions of the main cloth chair. The chair is a sling type and shapes to fit you. The front legs don't normally touch the ground but if you want to sit at a table make it possible to be comfortable without worrying about rocking forward. As people have reported about other models the rocking motion is a bit different than a typical rocking chair. It is not unpleasant but if you are expecting the standard feel you might be disappointed. So far the chair is quiet. The shocks pivot back and forth on a hinge at the bottom. The shafts slide in and out and the fit is not quite as tight on one of them. The shaft travels a bit so could make a clicking or tapping sound as you rock. I am sure that is just a minor defect in production and might not be true of every unit. The chair is lighter than I expected and easy to fold quickly. If you have large hands you could easily just grab the chair by the support shafts when folded and carry it around without putting it in the carry bag. My guess is that this model is just like the travel rocker but without the solid arms. Both of them have the front legs. So far I like it and hope it lasts several seasons.

Great chair, it's nice to have the rocking feature. It folds nicely in to the pouch it comes with. The chairs are a big heavy due to the hydrolics. However, it's still a good buy. Highly recommended.

I love a rocking chair, this was a great purchase. We sit outside at our house a lot, we are at different sports events that don't always have stands, so this lives in my car from spring to winter. It is a great quality, stores easily in my car, truck, camper or at our house. I knit and crochet and am able to do this in my rocking chair or read a book. It doesn't creak, but I am sure the more that it is used and the older it gets it might start making some noises. I would buy another one!

Finally a rocking chair that folds... Liked ease of folding and opening the chair in my limited space. Needed a foot stool to get rocking motion going but still a great option for smaller apartments n still getting a rocking chair in. Feels better if placed on carpeted floor space. The back motion in rocking can be seemingly squeaky at times but if plugging in yr ears or watching tv, it's not noticed. Adding cushions into the seat makes it better for back and back of legs when sitting in it. Dunno how long this chair will last but glad to have this as my reading corner chair. Delivery was swift and packaging it came in was good n solid. Not meant for taller people cos neck sticks out above top of chair back line. Adding an additional cushion that hangs on your neck may help then. May also feel a little low for taller people. Wider than regular camping chair so make sure u have width to open on left n right sides.
