My 10 year old reader doesn't usually finish chapter books; this one he completed with minimal encouragement. Great to have books with brown boys as the center.

A great book. I would recommend this to any middle school student. I am a Language Arts teacher and use this with my students.

The book gives young boys positive role models while keeping their interest high.
The characters are believable, the plot interesting and the conclusion provides a great lesson.Great book for students in socioeconomically mixed schools.

Stong African American Male Characters
I loved this book! As a school librarian I am forever searching for a book for my boy students. As I was reading I kept forming connections between Roberson, Pacino, Tariq and some of my students. I can’t wait to recommend! Strong African Americans male characters are a much sought after; you will find them here! Bravo! Also I gotta hand it to Barnes, you got me on the ending. Didn’t see that coming.
