An Ignatian Book of Days

The Challenge of Leading a Christian Life
Jim Manney's book provides the beginning of my written meditation for the day. For example, today's meditation asks the reader to "Consider current disturbing and tragic events in the world and in light of this comment---that sin is a message of hope." In light of Nepal, Baltimore, Chicago and the places I experience in assisting teachers this is such a challenging prompt to write about. My first thought is that I need the help of Jesus Christ.Throughout the book, the message of the Gospels and the Eucharist are present as well as the message of my sinfulness and what I will find out in my meditation. This is very helpful in a rather secular world that reaches for the goodness, kindness and challenge that Jesus brings us.The author challenges us to deepen and go beyond where we were the previous day.

Introduction or Welcome Addition
Jesuits have contributed a great deal to the practice of prayer and weaving together informed action and contemplation into a common way of life. This book can serve as an introduction to this rich legacy for newcomers or as a welcome addition to prayer among those familiar with the Spiritual Exercises and those who appreciate Jesuit scholarship. Each day of the year contains a quote or two (often a scripture verse) to stimulate the prayerful imagination and a gentle, simple suggestion to shape prayerful action during the day. This would make a nice gift for anyone ready for something a bit more substantive than many sweet, safe devotional resources.

Relative Newbie Really Likes This Book
For me, this book is about many persons--not only members of the Society of Jesus--finding God working within them as they pursue the way of Ignatius. The daily readings include the fruits of realizations and meditations of diverse Christians, followed by a couple of verses from Scripture, and at the bottom of the page a suggestion, a challenge, a call to prayer, a call to go deeper. I was introduced to Ignatian Spirituality in September 2015, found this book at Amazon.com, and with it, a daily rhythm of gratitude and praise.

Excellent Ignatian daily reflections
This is the best daily reflection book or devotional that I've come across, particularly in the Ignatian tradition. As a teacher at a Jesuit high school, I am always looking for ways to deepen my students' faith life, and using this book for our daily prayer is helping! Highly recommend.

A Daily Guide to Setting Eeryday Goals.
This book forces you to focus on challenges that God presents to you each day. It reinforces the Jesuit plan of "Finding God in all things." It is amazing how it seems to hit on the hot spots of each day. I love it and have given several copies already to those seeking God's grace.
