Concise and to the point!!
What I love about this is the organization. There have been other East Asian textbooks which each chapter focuses on a different country in time and it gets very unorganized. What I love with this is how it involves all 3 nations at the same time in one chapter. Yes, chapters are really long, but very informative and are helpful for understanding the interactions between China, Korea, and Japan during a time period. What else I like is even though chapters are bulky, it gets to the point very quickly, and gives important facts in a fast manner. It's very helpful. Even if you're only interested in looking at East Asian history, and not needing it for a class, this is a really good book to get information from.

Not much to choose from..
As far as book on East Asia go, this one is outstanding. As far as books go in general, this one needs a little help. It is really difficult to look up words or people, however, sometimes they are listed in the back and sometimes they aren't.

Students Beware!!!!
As a textbook, this is absolutely horrible. The material is not clearly organized, it is very detailed, and topics are frequently scattered throughout chapters. I have no idea how this can even be considered a textbook - a tool for strategic learning. It is a narrative at most. In my opinion, the only thing that makes it a textbook is the fact that it has a glossary. If you are trying to gain a general understanding of the most important events that have occurred in East Asia over the last 500 years, be prepared to spend way too much time sorting through the anecdotal information and anything but concise or clear overviews. However if you happen to be an East Asia fanatic and you aren't being graded on this material, this book might be for you.

Better then most.
Written better then most history books I have read in the past, still a chore at times though.

Download Limits, copyright rip-off to the consumer, defeats purpose as a reference.
If you own more than two kindles or upgrade your kindle, you may need to re-purchase a copy of this book to have it on your new device, even if you deregister an old one (don't waste your time). Not a good enough book to have to repurchase it every time you need a reference or upgrade your device. I will stop using or citing this book as a student or professional reference.

Really solid textbook used for my History of East Asia ...
Really solid textbook used for my History of East Asia class. Take it slow, though, it gives a LOT of information.
