Just and all around great book
This book stands alone as just a great children's book, The story and the art appeal to children of all ages. In addition this is a great book to help children understand and accept individual difference. We are a family that is deeply into pet rescue. We have sent copies of Motor Miles to our grandchildren that currently are dealing with "difficult dogs" We are planning on reading Motor Miles at our Christmas eve gathering.

Joyous Whimsy
MOTOR MILES is a children's book about a dog named Miles. Miles is a very difficult dog who doesn't like to go for walks, who doesn't like his food, and who doesn't get along with other dogs. His owners, Alice Trudge and her son, Norman, love Miles very much. The one thing Miles does like to do is go for drives. Alice's neighbor suggests that maybe Miles will be a better dog if he has his own car. This is the point in the book where the story turns from just being sweet and charming into endearingly whimsical and joyously absurd. Miles does get a car of his own and it wasn't the way I thought it was going to be. Overall, MOTOR MILES is a delightful little children's book sure to be enjoyed by both children and adults.

If there is a dog book, I usually have ...
If there is a dog book, I usually have to read it unless I think it is going to end badly and then maybe. Sadness is not the case in this outlandish picture book about Miles who is a difficult dog unless he is in a car and ultimately his own car. Interesting huh?Written and illustrated by John Burningham, published by Candlewick Press.#PB #mustlovedogs #humor

Great book, especially if your kid's name is Miles
Our son, whose name is Miles, loves this book and wants us to read it to him every night.

Slightly disappointing story
As ever, the drawings are fabulous, all scratchy and evocative. The story starts off so well and got such good reviews we rushed to buy this book - but it fizzles out and the ending is a bit feeble. Perhaps a bit too abstract for a child, too, as mine were not much interested in the book at all, having loved Mr Gumpy and other stories by Burningham.
