If your sill isn't deep you'll have to modify it. But it can be done.
If you don't have a deep window sill that allows the top to fit pretty far back the support piece on the bottom will be about 3" too short.I was pretty much stuck with this model because I had a baseboard heater right under the window. This was the only model I found that fit into the limited space. So I had to work with it.I ended up attaching a metallic tie plate onto the bottom face of the bottom piece that angles against the wall. I wanted to attach it to the top of the bottom support but a strap in the middle keeps it from fitting flush. Simpson Strong Tie TP57 Strong Tie Plate Just over a buck at your big box home improvement store. I slit a length of small tubing and attached it to the sharp edge so it wouldn't gouge into the wall. I didn't have help so I used two small C-clamps to test the 'fit' (it needs to be level) against the wall before attaching the plate with four screws. It's easy to align it because you can use the holes in the plate for alignment. The plate I bought had a more staggered pattern, which helped. (Home Depot)I think I attached the glued part at a very slight angle because the glue was so sticky you can't adjust it at all. This meant I couldn't simply attach the plate to the board at a right angle because it needed to be offset a little. The c-clamps allowed me to see how flush the metal edge fit...and adjust it accordingly before putting the screws in.I's not the prettiest thing but it works really well and is quite sturdy. I might spray paint the metal later to blend it against the wood.Be careful when you attach the glued edge because the glue is VERY sticky and you can't move it once any part of it is against the window sill.

Good news is
I was very concerned about safety and appearance. This is going to be more safe than any suction cup window perch. It also is far easier to reinforce than any suction cup perch solution. The perch uses a combination of gravity and velcro to assure your kitty is safe. You can see from the reviews that any issues that came about where from a too small window ledge or velcro weakneing over time (with help of the sun). The too small window ledge will be an issue no matter what perch you get because a longer ledge is more safety support. Any perch that relies less on the ledge will be more risky. So this product shouldnt be rated lower due to thinner ledges. The second part is the velcro. Something needs to keep any perch stable whether that is goign to be velcro, tape, screws, or nails. You can pick which one you want. If you are goign to rely on the velcro that came with the perch understand that velcro will not last forever so there will be a day you need to replace it. Good news is, the velcro will last far longer than the suction will of any suction cup option. Here is what you can do to make your perch more full proof. 1) buy more velcro at HomeDepot. It is a double stick tape package, cheap, and easy to find. You can use as much as you want all around the ledge. Also over time you can swap out your old velcro tape with fresh velcro tape. or 2) use screws to drill in your perch into your window ledge. If you do this, you perch will be there safely forever. It really is the best solution for safety in any perch you will buy anywhere.Any bad experiences users have had with this perch is a universal experience you will have with any perch. There is no complaint unique to this product that does not exist with every other perch option you have. Its the nature of the beast. The product itself works great, so much so that I bought a second one. But depending on the sun exposure, the type of ledge you have (marble, tile, painted wood, wood, sheet rock, etc) the velcro is only going to do so much and last so long. That is where your responsibility for your kitty comes in. You want to drill in any perch out there and if you cant drill it in (I cant either, I have marble ledges) then you want to reinforce your velcro with more velcro tape and change the tape every year just for peace of mind. Stay away from suction cups.

CAUTION FOR ANYONE WITH DRYWALL WINDOWS
My cats loved this and would literally sit on this thing constantly. I was having issues with my blinds getting messed up from the cats so I tried removing it to place it in another location without blinds. Trying to remove the adhesive Velcro portion ended up damaging the window. No matter how hard I tried to peel it off, all the paint and drywall came off with the sticky backing and now the metal on my window is showing. Horrible process trying to remove it. Its basically permanent once you place it so make certain when you install this perch you factor in all possibilities. I didn't realize that my blinds might be tempting for the cats to suddenly want to mess with since they never messed with them before I put this perch at that window.Once I removed this and realized the severe damage it did to the window, I replaced it with a small 33" cat tree perch that sits about the same as this did. Its portable, I can move it when I want and it won't damage the house. Oxgord, 33" Cat Tree, White For those of you wanting a permanent window perch, this is perfect but I won't be purchasing anything else that requires you to commit to damaging my walls, windows, etc. Its just not worth it.

Perfect! My dog-who-thinks-she-is-a-cat LOVES it!
This is exactly what I was looking for! Glad I selected this one after hours of research. Believe it or not, it's for my teeny-weenie chihuahua/mini-poodle mix (she thinks she is a cat, seriously). She is only 5 pounds, so the perch doesn't even move when she jumps up on it. I followed directions (and then some) by cleaning the sill with alcohol very well (no residue/dirt) and then placing the perch with velcro adhesives over night, weighted down with heavy books. Probably overkill, but it isn't budging. My heftier mini-poodle (15 pounds) also uses it, but she isn't as fond of heights. Both of them together have been on it (20 pounds), and it seems very solid.I love the sleek look and didn't want to mess with any tools … this is absolutely perfect. The soft cover is washable and seems to have just the right amount of cushion. I will update this later if anything happens or it doesn't turn out to be as solid as I think … but so far, I love the look, easy to install, and a hit with my kitty-pooch! See photo attached of her little perch.
