Good cleaning kit
A lot of pieces in this kit, like the rods, chamber brush, and multi-tool actually look like they might be USGI surplus, or they're just a really good reproduction. Either way, this is a solid cleaning kit.I tried bending the rods with my hands using a reasonable amount of force without going overboard and it stayed rigid, so the heat treat is good. The multi-tool was wrapped in some oil soaked fabric and sealed inside of a bag marked 1967. That being said, the packaging material wasn't modern at all (I've actually never seen anything like it before), suggesting even further that this is an actual USGI kit from the 60's. Just a quick note in case anyone gets the idea that that's a bad thing, it's quite the contrary.Glad I bought this, and so is my M1A as it now has a solid cleaning kit living happily inside of its stock.

It's tradition
Well, you got an M1A, you gotta' have one of these. It all works, though I don't use the oil bottle..A little hint if you're having trouble loosening the gas block bolt I put a metal tube over the wrench to increase the leverage, using the Sadlak tool to hold the barrel in place, and it worked well, and the wrench held up... I know the first teardown is an issue, and this made it less of one. Still sweat and swore a bit lol.

Serviceable
Serviceable; arrived on time, in good condition; functions as described. A touch pricey, but seems well made and within the tolerances of the original military specs. Fits neatly into the buttstock receptacle when carefully packed.

Just OK; not really worth the price
Heavy oxidation on all of the rods; no pouch to secure ALL of the components. Overall, not worth almost $30; I could have gotten a more complete kit at a gun show (at about $15) if I had not needed it immediately.

Best Cleaning Kit I found for the M14 on Amazon
Gift for Son in Law. reviews of many of the cleaning kits for the M14 buttstock compartments were reviewed as shoddy, cheap, and poorly made and fitting the required areas poorly. This item was the highest rated and more expensive with many original USGI parts. Only the plastic oil bottle is non standard. My Son in Law is a former US Army officer who trained and used the M14 and M21 rifles and is pleased with the Masen Company Dix cleaning kit. He would purchase this himself.

Good Buy
All pieces pictured were received fairly quickly and in new condition in a sealed bag, nearly organized. All pieces are new, present, and functional. The rod pieces were in their own plastic bag and stowed in the green cloth storage sleeve, and threaded together with no problems. The combination tool was in its own sealed long term storage bag. The wrench on it has a little wiggle to it when applied to the gas plug (of a Springfield M1A), but it's a simple hex wrench and is fully functional; there is no possibility that it could ever strip the wrench/plug. In all I have no complaints. What more could you ask for?

The only issue I have is I would like to know exactly what type/brand of oil or liquid ...
This is just what I was looking for to put into my butt stock in my James River "Rock Ola" M14. It is just my call, but I plan on ordering another kit to carry for field cleaning. The only issue I have is I would like to know exactly what type/brand of oil or liquid grease goes into the oil bottle.
