works great
Love how the water is below and keeps it soft. Easy to use. Only thing is lid does not fit as tight as I think it should.

BEST BUTTER BOAT
This butter boat is the best. All of the others that "LOOK"" like this do not measure up. This is a Trudeau and it has a fitted lid and there is a water line on the bottom boat. I had to go through several look-alikes but they always came up short. Mostly, the lids did not fit and therefore they were not protecting the butter.

No more microwaving cold, hard sticks of butter!
Worry that the butter would go rancid during the warmer months (I live in central TX and the thermostat is set high while I'm at work) kept me from attempting to keep butter unrefrigerated. I read the butter keepers that you turn upside down so the butter is covered in water will keep for 30 days but that wasn't going to work for me. Call me lazy but I knew if I had to get the butter out of the refrigerator, wait for it to soften then come back to manually pack it into the keeper while also remembering to change the water every 2-3 days I wouldn't be using the butter keeper for long and would be a waste of money.I eventually got very tired of zapping the butter dish in the microwave and decided to give a butter boat a try since there's no prep, just change out the water every 2-3 days. Like other reviewers, I wish I'd bought a butter boat YEARS ago!I was a little worried that the butter would go bad since the thermostat is set at 90 degrees during the summer when we're not home & with only 2 people in our home a stick of butter can sometimes last anywhere from a few days to 2-3 weeks. I'm happy to report that there have been no issues with the butter going rancid in the 5 months since I began using this butter boat.I wish we could vote in increments of 0.5 stars because I would've taken 0.5 star off rather than a whole one for the one complaint I have about the design of this butter boat: you have to pay close attention when lifting and replacing the lid to avoid touching the stick of butter. Maybe I'm being too nitpicky but it's annoying when you end up with greasy spots on the countertop because you didn't realize there was butter on the lid. I think making the 'boat' 0.25" deeper would help with this issue.

Better than a butter bell.
I used to have a "butter bell," the kind you submerge in a crock full of cool water. But when you put it into the crock, a big air bubble formed against the butter. So I pitched it.I saw this at the home of a friend and ordered one for myself. It's been warm, but I've been changing the water in the bottom of the crock at least once a day, sometimes more often, and so far, the butter is still good. It doesn't come into contact with the cool water and no air bubbles form to keep that from happening. This gadget has a line in the inside of the bottom of the crock so you know how much water to put in it. If you put more, it will overflow when you put the butter container in it.Porcelain doesn't conduct temperatures as effectively as unglazed materials do, but the butter isn't waterlogged, either. So far, so good.

Lovely and Useful, but Not Carefully Made
This looks lovely and more or less does what it's supposed to do decently well, but it must receive three stars because of two misfortunes:(1) The three pieces do not fit together exactly, as if the production line machinery is not adjusted properly so that there is a noticeable misalignment among the parts and/or those responsible for quality control are continually on a coffee break.(2) The little blue line indicating water level is improperly placed. When filled to that line as instructed, the water overflows when the insert is placed inside, requiring experimentation until the correct water level, about 1/8-inch below the line, was discovered. This indicates slack procedures by the manufacturer.

Makes a nice butter dish
I bought this to replace my butter dish that broke. I had the exact same one except mine didn’t have the bottom part that you fill with water. I will not be using that bottom part. As a matter of fact, I use it for a sponge holder. I use the butter dish, leave it out on my counter all the time, and it is always soft. I am only giving this product 3 stars because of the lid. I only wish it sat a little better on the dish. But this is the only style butter dish that I use and, for some reason, they are very hard to find.

Keeps butter spreadable
So far I’m loving this butter boat. I’m in Hawaii where keeping our butter out means it melts due to very warm temperatures. Here in the winter it is 80 degrees and my butter isn’t melting. I’m sure in the summer months I’ll have to put ice water in the outer part of this butter boat to keep the butter more intact, but so far I’m recommending it!

Lovely
Thank you for a well made, useful product! It gets very hot where I live and when I was a child everyone had butter boats but I haven't seen these around for donkeys' years. It's nice to be able to have real butter again, I grew up near a dairy so straight butter was always my favourite sandwich spread. I bought 2, one seems to have a slight chip in a non-critical location but they were very well packed and made it safely to Australia. They are perfectly presentable for any table, without being fragile.

Matched expectations
Love this ! Butter stays soft enough to spread, and the ‘boat’ adds a sense of style to the kitchen or table when serving

Butter boat.
Poorly produced with little attention to detail. Parts of the butter boat are unfinished (glaze) under the lid and on the base of the outer shell. The lid does not fit and there is a gap between the lid and the container.

Broken.
It came broken and I was told it would be picked up by courier and we would be refunded or the item replaced. It’s now been sitting here for a month with no contact.
