Medicap 25-Pack MN Systemic Manganese Tree Implants for Control of Manganese Chlorosis, 3/8-Inch

These have been remarkable to bring back my iron (and apparently manganese) deprived maple trees! It's a bit uncomfortable to drill 3/8" holes into your tree but the results are amazing. I've done just the iron implants before with so-so success, but doing both the manganese and the iron this year has made a huge difference. My yellow-leaf tree cure now includes using both. You could see results in the first week, but it took about 3-4 weeks for the leaves to be back to dark green like they should be.In the picture, you can see the dark green leaves of my tree in the foreground with the yellow leaves of my neighbor's tree. They're both the same variety of maple tree, the same age, and in the same (relatively close) soil.

We have had problems with our Autumn Sunset red maple for a couple of years. It obviously had chlorosis, because they leaves were yellow green, and only the areas around the veins were a dark green. I had encountered this problem 25 years ago with another tree, at another home. That problem had been solved by an arborist who attached a manganese treatment to the trunk. So last spring I called a tree maintenance company who said they had an arborist on staff. Someone came out to take a look at the tree, and I explained the situation. They came back out and gave the tree vitamin treatments, injected around the roots. It did not help. This spring I decided to do some research to see if I could find a “do it yourself” manganese treatment. My husband and I applied the Medicap implants right before the leaves started to come out. The leaves are now a beautiful dark green, and I couldn’t be happier. This product was easy to use, was cheaper than using an arborist, and it worked!

Use both FE and MN plugs!I tried adding iron alone and it didn't fix my trees.This time I used both FE and MN and my trees greened up. They turned red in the fall before the leaves fell too.I used the 3/8 plugs even though my trees were big enough for 1/2" plugs. 3/8" holes were much easier to drill. The tree healed over the holes in about 8 weeks.

We had an arborist come out and take a look at a couple of maples that were sickly looking - very yellow and droopy leaves early in the season. He said they were manganese deficient. He offered to treat them - at about $200 per tree! He claimed that they both needed significant treatment, that really can't be done by a home owner. I decided to try this product first. They're easy to use as long as you have a power drill (mine was electric, but I have a long enough extension cord, it worked fine). I tapped the implants into the tree and crossed my fingers. I did this in the spring before the leaves came out. That summer one tree was fantastic. It was the tree that was in the most distress, so I used about 10 implants even though the diameter of the tree was only about 10 inches. The other tree did better, but I had only put about 5 implants in. The next summer the results were still holding, you can't even tell where I drilled in the implants I've decided to buy another pack of this and treat the trees again. It's a small investment for these beautiful trees. I highly recommend!
