My cats love it
I already have Emery Cat scratchers, which my cats love and use all the time. But my most recent rescue cat also likes to stretch *UP* while scratching...as in scratching the furniture. Oh no!! Definitely cannot have that. So I ordered this item and hoped its tall height would satisfy his preference for standing on his hind legs while stretching upward to scratch. It worked! All the cats love it, and in the two days since it arrived my newest cat has completely stopped attempting to scratch the furniture. I placed this scratching post right next to the oversized chair he had been targeting, rubbed some catnip on it, and next thing I knew he was happily scratching the post, not the chair. It actually serves double, or even triple duty. For one thing, its base also provides an area the cats like to scratch. Also, I tried laying it on its side, which created a sloping angle and the cats liked that, too. I ended up with it back in its upright position next to the chair, as that seems the best choice for my "oh I'd like to scratch that furniture!" cat. :)It's certainly taller than other scratching posts I've seen, but I wish it were even taller. My new boy is BIG and could easily use another foot (or more) height on this post when he stretches.Oh...the toy that came attached to it? In less than 5 minutes--as documented by photos I was taking as my cats started checking out the new scratching post--its string broke and the toy was on the floor. Oh well, I didn't buy this post for its toy, so I really don't care, but lasting more than 5 minutes would've been nice anyway.

Great post, but may need some anchoring if your cat tends to knock it down
My cats really like this scratching post, and it's a life saver for my couch. As soon as my husband or I would walk in the door they would run to the couch to stretch and scratch on it, so I needed a post to keep my couch from being torn apart. This gets the job done, and they took to it right away. I put it right next to where they would scratch the couch, so now they go straight for the post instead. The only downside is that the post has a hard time staying up on its own. Since I have it right next to the couch, I have it angled so one of the corners goes under the couch to help keep it grounded when my two cats pull on it. So it's really not an issue for me at all, but if people want it as a freestanding scratcher they should be aware that it has a tendency to fall over with too much pulling.

Cats actually use it!
Unlike most things we buy for our cats, the cats love this thing! 2 kittens are finally scratching something that doesn't make me mad. Wish I'd purchased it months ago.2 minor complaints...very minor:1. They can knock it over very easily...it's a little wobbly. No biggie, just set it up again, but it does tip over.2. The mouse tore off in the first 5 minutes. I tied it back on, and they got it off again in another 5 minutes. They loved that mouse... I don't expect an elastic band to hold up to a catnip fueled kitten, but it really was short-lived.

My cats like it!
My two cats had worn out their previous scratching post, so I got this one as a replacement. The post is a bit small, andthe sisal is attached with staples. So far it is working o.k., but I am concerned that the sisal will soon unravel. The mousewas a big hit with one cat. He bats it around and chases it around the post. The other cat is somewhat suspicious and sofar has not played with the mouse, although she HAS used the scratching post. O.K. for the money, but does not appearto be of the quality of my old one (which I purchased 4 years ago at K-Mart).

WORKED OUT FINE
This have been good for the area I wanted it. My cat Bandit went for it as soon as it was out. Good height. He is a big boy. but for the area it is just fine. Very sturdy for him i am adding this to the original post. I got a resuce kitten in June a surprise. She loves it BUT THE STRING HOLDING ON THE LITTLE TOY HAS BROKEN OFF 3 TIMES. i wish it was heavier string. i have tried to re attach it but i think it can not be done. I have another post from a different company and it still has everything just like new and it is older than this scratching post

Great Product!
I read all of the reviews and got this one because of all of the good ratings. We have a kitten and wanted to teach her to claw the post so she wouldn't claw our furniture. Works great. She LOVES it. Climbs all over it and gets that mouse! It did finally come off, but I just tied the string to the tail of it and it's good to go. Whiskers loves it and so do we. :)The only critique I would have is that the black piece at the top "sheds" black fuzzies. It should be made of the carpet material or something that doesn't require me to pick up fuzz or have to vacuum. I'm still giving it 5 stars though, as we are very happy with it!

Great minus the shedding
Both of my cats love this scratching post and the attached mouse definitely entices them to play with it.Two things to note:1. The 5 lb kitten likes to body slam it and it does topple over. If your kitty likes rough play, this might not be the best fit.2. The mouse sheds like crazy. There is consistently black fuzz all over our carpet around the post and just when you think it can possibly shed more, it does. At this point, the mouse is bald.Product is great if your kitty isn't deranged and you don't mind a fur-less mouse hanging around your living room.

Not for the aggressive cat
This provided endless hours of fun for our cat and her kittens alas they are savage beasts and it was not long before the mouse met a gruesome end. They have now suceeded in severing the post from it's base. I think this would be ideal for a singular cat that does not have panther DNA. Unfortunately it just didn't hold up to thr brutality that it was subjected to.
