Has given me a solid foundation.
This biology book is fantastic. It's easy to read, and has a TON of good information. I went to a college that used this book, then took a higher level bio (physiology) class at a different school, and let me tell you my Bio knowledge gave me a huge advantage over the other students. And this is without any science background until just recently.Basically, what I'm trying to say is that if your teacher made you buy this book, then they probably actually care about your education more than letting publishers bully them. Not that this publisher is a small fry or anything, but you get the point.

Good Textbook and Cheaper than the 10th Edition
You're probably just assigned to get this book and don't really care about the review, but it is a good textbook, one of the very few that I actually read in college. It's probably worth the investment just in case you get a crummy professor and need to learn the material on your own. There is a 10th edition of this book, but the information is practically the exact same so if you have a choice, go with the cheaper option. This is a length book and the binding can be fragile so just be careful to not put it under too much physical strain.

good for studying for the praxis
I ordered this Biology book to study for the Biology Praxis. I found its organization to be very well done and I was able to clearly follow each topic without having to reread the pages multiple times. I also followed the praxis study guide and used this as a supplement to that and I passed the Praxis on the first try. I would definitely recommend this book as a studying supplement for basic biology material.

Very thorough, seminal text for General Biology
In many ways, the idea of a General Biology course is silly but without going into that I will say that this book offers a double whammy: a wealth of information, including quite a few details when necessary, as well as a clarity that is unparalleled within the realm of general biology texts. There is a reason this book is used in AP (college prep) bio courses and sometimes even in college intro bio courses. Love the kindle format for textbooks but wish I could sometimes view pages side-by-side as one can do for a physical text.

Wide range of topics
Campbell Bio is a leading collegiate text, and for good reason. This book encompasses a wide range of topics, on a basic level. Because it touches on so much, it can help even in an higher level bio course. I used this book past general biology. Before each unit, there are interviews with leading biologists. There are summarized studies on some pages to supplement main ideas. The problem sets aren't much, though. The writer likes to conclude each chapter with a transition to the next, which is a cool feature that keeps you reading. Awesome bio book

Heads up to those considering to purchase Biology by Campbell for the Kindle Fire
TO THOSE WHO PURCHASED/CONSIDERING TO PURCHASE THIS EBOOK FOR THEIR KINDLE FIRE:I just purchased this book on the kindle store and I had the same negative first thoughts about this version of the book as many others did. However, my advise is this: this book is best to be read by changing the Kindle Fire's orientation to the horizontal position (think in terms of how the actual physical copy of the book itself looks when its opened) which makes the text slightly larger thus more legible. If the size is still too small for you, you can also increase the size of the font by double tapping (2 rapid taps with your finger) on the screen of your kindle which will enter the zoom mode making the text a much more respectable size. But in all honesty, it's really just a matter of personal opinion between the pros/cons. For example: I would much rather prefer to carry a sleek and compact device that allows me to read in the dark, multitask, highlight vocab with quick and easy access to later, a very handy built-in dictionary - p.s. I find this feature EXTREMELY helpful with textbooks (simply highlight the work with your finger and a window prompt with a definition appears - for those who did not know, this works for all the Kindle eBooks) and can read on the fly anywhere instead of having to carry a large heavy textbook everywhere I go which I find is not very comfortable to read unless I'm sitting at a large, sturdy desk. Nonetheless, my biggest complaint about the eBook version is that I have not yet found my access code to the MasteringBiology website so I'm assuming it is not included with the eBook version, which is a big bummer because it is required for my class and costs about $50.00 by itself, so you may actually be able to buy the physical copy of this book with the access code included for a cheaper price. I Hope this helps to those who were wondering

it is as well as described.
I just received the book as "acceptable condition". the cover looks really acceptable but the pages inside look great. I thank the seller for a lower price and delivery timely! I learn biology 15 years ago and bought the book for the test TEAS.
