Gets the job done
Came well packaged when shipped, if you're worried about receiving a broken/damaged product. The gaiwan itself looks very beautiful, it's got a really nice deep rich blue color in person. Not a big fan of the design, but it's nothing that isn't already shown in the images so I was expecting it.The build quality seems alright. Personally, I wish it was a big thicker to give it a sturdier feel, but the thinness does make it lighter and possibly easier to handle. I was worried that I would be more prone to burning myself due to the thinness, but that hasn't been a problem. I've been able to handle this gaiwan just fine.I'm not sure whether this design is intentional across gaiwans, but I've noticed this doesn't happen with my other gaiwans: the lid does not completely seal when laid flat onto the gaiwan. You can actually see this occuring in the image advertised, there's a slight gap on the left and right. Personally, I'd prefer if it formed a complete seal in this position (again, not sure if this is an intentional or common design for gaiwans) as it would give me more control over what aperture I'm working with. It's also worth mentioning that this gap occurs only in certain areas of the lid, making it a little more difficult to control the aperture if you're just grabbing it. I'm more likely to get a few stray leafs into my pours. All in all, not a bad product for the price.

Very thick
So, my understanding of fine porcelain is that it is very thin and delicate. This, however, is quite thick and clunky, leading me to believe it is probably not high standard at all. My experience with a high number of tea masters is thin, not thick, gaiwans, so suspect this is true. That said, living now in winter in cool California and not bothering much with heat, I have to make a real effort to keep my tea ware hot during brewing sessions, and the thickness might retain heat better and be an advantage. At any rate, if you're looking for the delicate feel of any traditional gongfu Chinese tea sessions you might have experienced, look elsewhere

A Nice Gaiwan
Nice, well made Gaiwan. Lid fits well. Comfortable in hand and pours well. Walls a bit thicker than most so preheat before use. Should help hold brewing temps better than its thinner walled cousins.

Lead in Ceramics and Gaiwans
Do not buy this gaiwan. There is a nasty harshness when using this gaiwan which could be due to the manufacturer using lead in their products. Lead was commonly used in painting and ceramics to produce rich saturated colors and some companies still try to get away with it. Different countries have different levels of acceptable lead amounts in goods so this item may or may not be in the acceptable levels for your region.

Nice looking, but poor pouring ...
I like the looks of this gaiwan! It feels nice in my hand and is plenty thick for my tea. However, the way this cover fits, it is a very messy pour. My other gaiwans are easy to control the pour, rarely resulting in spillage to clean up.

Thin Porcelain - painful to use.
While I wanted to love this gaiwan, especially due to the beautiful design, it's unlovable. The porcelain is so thin, meaning when you use this properly it's painful to use. Even when you hold this properly at the edges, the porcelain gets unbearably hot. Please refund.
