The Schwinn Hinge folding commuter bike is small and compact when stored, but unfolds into a convenient commuting bike. The Schwinn Hinge will be your convenient go-to ride that will fold up tight to be stored in a trunk, closet or basement. Then when you need some wheels, unfold the frame and the 20-inch wheels with smooth street tires and fenders become the perfect cross-town ride. It even has a rear carrier to carry your pack. The frame folds in half and the pedals and stem all fold in so the bike will fit in most trunks. A nylon carry and storage bag is included. Now you can enjoy the convenience of bike riding without the worries of carrying and storing your bike.

$225 bike arrived with $70 worth of damage
Well, just like other uses, this bike arrived heavily damage and not fully as described. First, the bike is missing one of the two folding pedals, literally the one thing that made me decided to purchase this bike over others. Second, the rear brakes were completely shot, both arm springs are set so that they won't spring back when the brake is depressed, so the pads pretty much just ride the rim the whole time, this had to be replaced at the tune of $20. Then, the major kicker, came with a severely bent chain sprocket, this cost $50 at a local bike shop to fix, as you need a special tool to replace it. The only reason the bike is getting 3 stars is that the folding aspect does exactly what I need it to do and now that the bike is fixed, it is at least somewhat palpable for riding.Update: This bike has been a disaster. Along with everything above, I have been riding this bike maybe 10 minutes a day too and from my work building and parking lot. Everything has started to break. Front fender gets bent anytime you fold the bike, so now it rides the front tire. Same thing with the chain guard. Rear brakes have only gotten worse and are nearly impossible to get a correct adjustment on due to the poor design of the cable routing. Front reflector just spins and can't be tightened and there isn't even any good place to attach lighting to the bike to make it legal for night riding. What a complete waste of money. Might need to file a BBB on this!

It does take up less space in my apartment though and i love it for that
This bike was heavier than all my big 26" mountain bikes, which took up too much space... i have a small flight of stairs i have to carry my bikes to get to my 1st floor apartment, yet it was so heavy that i think it would be easier to go without it. It does take up less space in my apartment though and i love it for that, but it was just too heavy. It does feel like a very strong bike though.Showed up with a bent ring-wheel n the chain would fall off everytime you spun it using the paddle. It was just a delivery issue though. Refunding it...waiting for it... but glad they came to pick it up without hassle from my part. Very good bike only if you don't have to carry it, such as if you can ride and fold it n keep it in your garage or something without having stairs or small doors and tight hallways to squeeze and carry it through. If you have no stairs nor have to carry it much... than i give this bike a 4 to 5 stars rating.

Good basic transportation
Received this bike with the drive sprocket bent from shipping. I was going to request a warranty sprocket replacement but the sprocket metal was so soft I was able to straighten it by hand. It is great for having around the campground but being single speed, I would not want to take it on a long ride. It is very convenient to be able to fold so it is easier to transport.

Nice bike!
This a nice little single speed bike. It is a great campground cruiser. I bought a couple of them for the wife and I. I throw them in the back of the truck and away we go. I use them to run to the store, ride along lake shores, or just for pleasure. They are well .she and ride great. Assembly involved simply unfolding them and adjusting the brakes. Nice bike!

I would not recommend for long distances
This bike is very heavy and does not have any gears. I would not recommend for long distances, hilly areas or if you plan to carry during your commute. It is best for a ride through the park or your neighborhood.

Surprisingly nice!
Sturdy, stable and nice classic design. Just be aware of the weight, it is too heavy to transport it, however it's great for storage. Pieces, breaks, etc are cheap but for this price it is obvious. Another bad thing is that the seat is very hard and unconformable in long distance rides. Other than that a great bike for the price.

better bike than you would think ... not as cheap, either
short and sweet - i took a ride on this bike right out of the box and it rode nicely (truth be told, i'm not much of a biker). however, as suggested by another poster, i took it to a reputable local bike shop to get it setup properly. now it rides really great. HUGE improvement, and i am enjoying it thoroughly.BUT that got me thinking: i bought this bike because it was cheap, but, after adding up a few things, it isn't as cheap as you would originally think. add $50 for bike setup (trust me, you'll only realize how necessary it is/was once you do it), a bell ($15 - law in new york city or suffer fine), front and rear lights ($100 - once again, law in nyc), a lock ($45 - or more - kryptonite), and i'll prob add ergonomic grips ($15) at some point (because you sit so upright on this thing, it's hard not to lean down on the handlebars and i'm only 5'8"). also, you'll prob want to replace the nubby tires with hybrids or slicks to make it ride smoother (i'm still not sure why they put off-road tires on this bike ... you will NEVER go off-roading with this thing), and the seat really is not comfortable, so you'll eventually want to replace that, too - even more costs!so, i am really pleased with the bike, and i'm getting alot of compliments (especially from dahon riders which is really interesting), but the economy of the bike certainly has to be brought into question. the dahon's come with better road tires, ergo grips, and more comfortable seats. plus, if you buy directly from a local bike shop, i bet you don't have to pay the $50 "setup" charge. just something to think about.
