Trick that not too many musicians like to share
Ms. Rebecca Cline outdid herself with the publication of this, yet well awaited Latin Jazz Piano Improvisation. Detailed some of the trick that have been used by many to improvise in Latin jazz and Salsa. Trick that not too many musicians like to share. Once a person relizas their potential, their next milestone should be, to share their knowledge, monies involved or not. She did so meeting a demand that has been there for a long time, at a very affordable price. Thanks for sharing, thanks for offering, and that's why my expectations were exceeded. I have used it ever since I got to teach my students, in my music production, and to learn some new tricks. Thanks!!!!! Irving; from Orlando, FL.

Fantastic
Excellent book for learning Afro-Cuban piano. This is one of the few books if any that explores improvising in the Latin Jazz style. The other books teach montuno playing or comping but do not address improvisation or soloing. The author is a monster player and great teacher. Highly recommended!!! Check out her You Tube videos!!!

If you play latin jazz, you need this book!!!
I had low expectations when ordering this book since there's so little material available on latin piano soloing on the market and what is available only teaches standard jazz approach. Here, you're taken through dozens of examples, exercises, and play-a-longs to achieve correct phrasing and melodic construction. Not for the faint of heart since once you pick up the book, it's assumed you've got your scales, chords, and basic keyboard skills pretty much under your belt. Highly recommended for all latin pianists and those wishing to get a deeper understanding of clave and how it relates to the keyboard.

Her solid Cuban guajeo / tumbao foundations along with her fantastic, "outside" improv's are just fantastic
I have followed Cline within Berklee cohort, Alex Alvear's "Mango Blue" over several years. Her solid Cuban guajeo / tumbao foundations along with her fantastic, "outside" improv's are just fantastic. This book offers great insight into her technique and approach. Spent time with Rebecca Cline. buy this book.

It's not an easy journey
NOT THE AUTHOR'S RESPONSIBILITY. It's not an easy book, NOT EASY...YOU MUST HAVE some prior knowledge, this style of music.... it's not simple to LEARN AND OWN... unless you are from the music's culture. it is challenging. YOU MAY CRAWL BEFORE STANDING UPRIGHT. You will move at a snail's pace and will have to get into it with determination and commitment. Like going on a diet to LOSE weight...GOing to the gym three times a week to GAIN muscle. I went to simpler and easier books to get just the very basic introductory [Montunas?] patterns for occasional usage. OUTSTANDING cover...work of photogenic art.

Très bon niveau
Belle pédagogie, si l'on a les bases solides techniques et d'écoute ou de pratique de musique latine (heureusement j'ai pratiqué les percus latines)

a bit too technical and not much fun
I've got loads of music books so they tend to compete for my attention and I hardly ever look at this one. I would have a look at the content first before buying to see if you like the way it's written. It's a bit too technical for me I think.
