Vandoren SR2725 Tenor Sax JAVA Reeds Strength 2.5; Box of 5

My go to for the gig tenor for its brightness and ability to get a cutting sound in a noisy club situation and a room where the sound is more dead. My issue is way too often I get samples that feel like Im playing a 2x4 and sound like I am playing through a pillow. I try to scrape and adjust and no-go. Been playing almost 5 0 yrs so I know dead reeds. Would hate to go to synthetic but reeds cost too much to may almost 30 bucks and get three good ones for a tenor.

Like everything about it

R-E-L-I-A-B-L-E and consistent. Well designed reed proves itself by how it blows. The one thing MOST OVERLOOKED by buyers is failing to try a range of different strengths. Reeds are highly sensitive to not only the player's embouchure, but more particularly the mouthpiece: some need a #4, others need a #2, for the same musician. I have never found a better reed.

I played tenor 35 years ago and swore by Rico Royal reeds. When I took it up again a couple years ago the sax I bought came with some old Rico Royals. They were just like I remembered, but I bought a box of new ones and they were uniformly disappointing. A sax player friend (who hadn't taken a 35-year hiatus) confirmed that their quality had suffered over the years. So I tried a Vandoren sample pack. I loved the Red Java reed, which had a rich & lively sound, but bought a box and none of them lived up to the promise of that first reed. I also liked the Green Java sample reed -- a little more mellow than the Red -- and tried a box of those. This time every reed in the box sounded great. And now I just upgraded from 2.5 to 3 and every reed in that box sounds even better, so I've found my new reed of choice.

Very playable reeds

I've been playing tenor for 50 yrs and have never been so pleased with a reed!I could kick myself for not having tried these ages ago despite hearing ravesfrom a few people.

Lo utilizo desde hace tiempo

Las cañas Vandoren Java Green son ya mis favoritas pero, debo reconocer que estas del 3 no me sirvieron para mi boquilla de metal Otto Link, son un poco blandas. Pero pude adaptarlas sin problema a mi boquilla Rico Royal Metalite. Son cañas de gran calidad, respuesta inmediata, con buenos agudos y cálidos graves. No les pongo el 5 porque no cumplieron con el objetivo que buscaba pero, son cañas muy buenas.

Para principiantes tiene un buen sonido, más estable que la clásica azul
