Good product (after replacement), and excellent customer service
I bought the single vertical load version. The construction is typical cheap plastic as can be expected for the price. The quality control and contruction is not good. Mine is missing one of the little rubber foot pads underneath, and the power button sticks in the depressed position if you press it in slightly off angle. Doesn't spring back out cleanly, and you have to jiggle it to get it to pop back out.Update 4/27/2016: The vendor kindly sent me a replacement under warranty, and it has none of the issues the original one had. In retrospect, I was a little harsh on the plastic quality... it is on par with most computer peripherals. It doesn't creak or flex at all, and is more than solid enough for its intended purpose. All the rubber pads underneath were there, and the on/off switch works perfectly. Both the original dock (except for the switch) and the replacement dock have worked fine over the last couple of weeks. Good to see that the vendor is paying attention to customer issues and is prepared to address them.Upgrading my review to 5 stars because the product is actually quite good, and because of the customer service.

Works great after an inital issue
Bought the FD1003 single-drive docking station to rescue some files from a salvaged hard drive. I had just installed a nice Inateck USB 3 card in my old Dell, so I plugged this in but couldn’t get the computer to recognize it no matter what. This was with Win 10 64 Pro. Darn! So I plugged it into a USB 2 port and it worked fine.Later I read (WRT another product) that if Windows doesn’t recognize it on USB 3, use it first on a USB 2 port and then it’ll work fine. So I plugged the docking station into my USB 3 card again and – glory of glories – it works fine now.The docking station itself does exactly what it’s supposed to do. It’s very lightly built and may not take much rough use, so be a little careful with it. The power supply cord is a good length and the USB cable is much longer than those included with some other devices, which is nice. The instructions are not terribly clear and printed in microscopic type, but probably aren’t needed. For the price, it does the job well. I’d buy it again. So, this gets five stars.

fantastic on laptop but desktop ignores it
-------- UPDATE NOTICE ------Important note: this docking station is NOT compatible with Windows10(Windows10 does not detect the presence of this unit under any conditions)(I changed my previous rating of 5 stars down to 4 stars)------ ORIGINAL REVIEW ------This docking station is simply fantastic. (although my desktop doesn't "see it")Before buying this unit, I used an inferior connection kit from Sabrent which I had to connect a USB cable to the computer and connect the SATA to the hard drive, then plug in a brick AC adapter (power) and then connect the other end of that cable to the rear end of the hard drive. They have slightly improved the setup, but it's still prehistoric compared to the Inateck docking station.Another BIG plus is that you can drop in a 3.5 or a 2.5 drive into this Inateck. (SATA or SSD)Happy computing!

Easy And Fast Hard Drives Docking Station
This is the simplest solution when backing up to internal hard drives on Windows 7 and 8.1. I plugged in the USB and pushed the power button, it recognized all my internal hard drives instantly. For convenience, the activity light and power button is placed on the front, and the eject button makes un-docking easy. There are four rubbers on the bottom to keep the dock from sliding off my desk. One thing I dislike about the dock is that 7mm and low profile hard drives sway when inserted because the door flaps are not wide enough to keep the drive firm. But it stills works flawlessly because it keeps connected to the SATA interface. I haven’t noticed any disconnects or speed drop while backing up. If you need a solid fast hard drive docking station, I recommend this one.

Total piece of crap...
The first inateck docking station I purchased could not be recognized by my MacBook Pro or my wife's Windows computer. Returned for refund. Some months later, inateck contacted me and asked me if I would accept a free replacement, test it, and revise my review. Happy to do so...or so I thought.Second one arrived. I had two reliable SATA drives, one a 1 TByte 3.5" Western Digital (WD10EADS - 11M283) and the other a 3.5" Hitachi 160 Gbyte (HDS721616PLA380) that had been removed on upgrades, but were functioning 100% in a regular external case. The inateck replacement recognized on my 2012 MacBook Pro intermittently before it first killed the Hitachi...used Apple Utilities and Drive Genius 4 to try to save it to no avail. Thought that maybe since it was the older of the two drives and had seen more use that it was simply "its time."Switched to the 1 Tbyte WD drive and within an hour the inateck docking station had also killed that drive so that it could not be recognized, reformatted, or repaired by any means.I let inateck know that retrying their docking station killed two hard drives, but so far no response and no offer to at least replace the 1 Tbyte drive.I cannot more strongly recommend that NO ONE make the mistake of purchasing this hard drive shredder.

This might be a fine HD dock
This might be a fine HD dock, but it couldn't correctly read my 4tb Seagate drive. I know the drive is fine, because it was my internal drive for a while. To be more accurate, it mounted the drive, but only as 390mb or some odd number close to that. Made the dock useless for me and had to return it.
