Well this is a I'll admit it's a very boring read especially if you don't like accounting. If I'm not mistaken this company this Publishing Company also publishes books for schools and colleges. The knowledge in this book will pay for itself in the long run for anyone who's serious about business operations at its core level.

The most understandable, no BS, discussion of accounting and financial statements I have found.

As a required text for my university course I found this book to be easy to read and has good end of chapter questions to test your understanding along the way.

I wanted to get a better understanding of financial statements in order to make stock investing decisions. This book gave me exactly what I needed. It is aimed at consumers, not creators, of financial statements---so it gives you all the detailed information you need to understand what you see without trying to teach you to become an accountant. Before, I had a rough understanding of the various financial statements but was confused on lots of small points. Now that I've read four chapters in this book, a lot has been cleared up for me---e.g. what is the difference between "basic" and "diluted" earnings per share, what is the "accrual" basis of accounting, what exactly is "stockholder's equity," etc. The authors explain things incredibly clearly and continually refer back to previously-discussed points in order to reinforce what you've learned. If you've got the will and the focus to make an effort to really understand financial statements, this book will be your invaluable guide. They manage to be simple and straightforward without being simplistic or condescending.

Perfect book to get the basics of financial statement hammered home. Perfect of beginners as well for people looking for a refresher.
