Victor M9014 Solar Powered Sonic Spike

My neighbor raises gophers (so it seems). I read some reviews where this does not work for some critters but I'm only talking about gophers. I have a strip of ground next to a fence/wall about 8 ft wide, bordered by concrete, that runs quite aways. I put in 2 solar spikes and the gophers moved over about 10-15 feet. I ordered 2 more and they moved over again. I ordered another 2 and another 2 so now I've I have 8 pairs and they keep moving. I just ordered 2 more as I'm following them as they move. Do not know who will win this battle. Do not think the coverage specified is accurate but I do not have a large open space so maybe it needs something like a lawn with no obstructions. I bought the solar because I didn't want to bother with batteries which need to be changed regularly. It took about 2 weeks between gopher moves. So I cannot recommend or recommend.

I've been using this for a few months now and it's hard to tell if it works or not. I have seen some mole tunnels near the spike since I installed it, but maybe it takes a while to drive them away. I like that it is solar powered so I don't have to worry about changing batteries. If you're having problems with rodents I say give it a try.

Give it a few days, no more mole trails. This is my second one. For another part of my yard. They can be put in the ground low enough I mow over them..They do come in different coverage areas.

Sorta works in the beginning.Then not at all!Have placed 14 of them, they charge and vibrate don’t know how long they run each day.Have had some Moles tunnel right up to them.Can not say anything good about this investment, would not buy again or recommend.

I bought 2 spikes. The 1st one stopped working after about 2 months while the other's still chugging along. I'd buy again because I have seen results in underground rodents stopping their burrowing, which caused my lawn and plant beds to rise upward. If these were more expensive, I'd be upset about the 1 that gave out after 2 months, but the price didn't hurt me.

We bought these from tractor supply company last year. We have lots of chipmunks in our yard. Have not seen a chipmunk since we put them in. But our last one only lasted about a year.

Not sure how to rate this product; but certainly not at the top end of ratings! It seems to require fairly precise preparation of the hole in which you insert it for effective operation. So...first finding something to create the "pilot hole" was annoying and difficult. Once we found something to make the hole it was difficult to make sure not to press on the head of the spike since it does not seem to be the most rugged product I've ever seen. Then it was a surprise to discover when I turned it on that it doesn't simply emit a sonic pulse underground but an audible beep that might be annoying. But once I resigned myself to the fact that we'd be listening to this whenever we are in our yard, I was pleased that the varmints seemed to cease plowing up our yard. But now what??? The beep has died and it hasn't even been running for two months!!! I called Victor and was asked if I put the spike in the ground and waited for 24 hrs before turning it on. Ahhhh...No! I see nowhere online or on the box it came in instructing you to do that. The customer service rep said to turn it off and wait 24 hrs and turn it back on. Maybe since I didn't do that the batteries haven't been able to fully charge. Did that. And, no, it does not work. So, now I wait to see how long and if they'll promptly replace this defective product before we have any more damage from gophers in the area. If this is the best they can do, I'm not sure I'd recommend this product. We'll see...[Update] I followed the suggestions from Victor's customer service rep. This spike clearly does not work after a few weeks of operation. I'm not going to be stuck without an effective deterrent while I try to negotiate with the company and wait for something else to keep the gophers at bay.

I waited to write this review until I was sure it would work and it did.It took about three weeks until the mole found it’s way out of my yard and to another place.
