We expected that Rabbi Steinsaltz and his team were going to bring us brilliant commentary. Our weekly Talmud class studies this book alongside the Shottenstein edition of the Talmud published by Artscroll. How blessed are we in one generation to have two unique, complementary, but different translations and commentaries of the text that is so central to Judaism. Side by side the two versions seem like they are talking to each other, and thereby are part of the long, rich heritage of the living Talmudic tradition.

Fantastic layout and translation. Even just the punctuation for the Hebrew / Aramaic is extremely helpful! Much prefer it to other translated editions.

A lot of the print is very small.

This translated text of the Talmud has enabled me to begin studying the Talmud. The text is well organized and laid out in a manner that is easy to follow. It is ideal for someone like myself with a limited background to begin to engage in the study of Judaism's oral law.
