Very Good Detail Information
This is one in a series of short, informative, well researched publications, containing lots of good photographs and details of particular weapons produced by major powers in WWI and WW2. If you have or collect or even intend to buy a legal or licensed automatic weapon, such as the BREN, MG 34 or MG 42, 1928A1 Thompson or other period weapon, this well illustrated slim publication is a quick reference for assorted attachments, sights, modifications, positioning and full range of tripods and other mounts. If you display, this is a real help, as the photo's depict the weapon in the extreme and active roll in combat. The series of publications carry a particular weapon through the idea or copy stage, modifications, trials and production models, in a time frame placed in history. Many of the mid 1900's weapons of the Great Powers and Axis were copied and improved after the war and became current, while others remained in service and were used in actions from Korea to Vietnam, and some are probably still in use in Africa rebel engagements. A "must have" booklet, reasonably priced and easily read.

A weapon that just peaked my interest
I have only purchased 2 books from this series, the Bren & the M2 machine gun. The books have been very informative concerning the weapon use and the books are well worth the purchase price if you are interested in the technical overview that is not too in depth.

Good read
Informative story of the BREN gun over its long service and the changes of the army over time. The army continued to use the gun due to its reliability, well thought design and quality manufacture.I recommend this book to anyone interested in the BREN and the British army.

Bren Gun book
This book gives a nice overview of the Bren gun. The illustrations and history are very nice as well. As I said in my review of the FAL rifle, this book is not an exhaustive source relating to this rifle, but is a good summary. If you want a detailed resource, look for an armorer's course on VHS or DVD.

Bren Gun
Great book in my opinion- for the money that is. It is not the ‘know it all’ book on Bren units but it does go into good details and as a starter book it is a good one. If you read it you can discuss the history of the Bren and its variants with good degree of knowledge.

insightful, well done
This subject represents one more in a series of well researched, effectively illustrated monograms. It is a welcome edition to the library.

Great work
This is certainly one of the better books in this wonderful series. Neil Grant is a great author and I very much fancy his fluent, direct and no nonsense writing style. He does not get lost in technical descriptions and really makes the subject come to life in this book. Very highly recommend for all you military hardware fans out there.

Ottimo libro
Libro veramente interessante e scorrevole, senza soffermarsi su troppi dettagli, spiega tutta la storia del Bren dalle origini all'impiego nella NATO

Essential reading for old soldiers!
Both the Bren and the Sten gun were standard issue during WW2 and for a long time after ( I used them both in the Territorial Army in the early 1960s & they became very firm favourites of us young soldiers back then. These are the first inexpensive, excellent histories & technical manuals I've come across and most welcome!Pity the publisher hasn't done the same study on the old three inch mortar. Another favorite of mine!Chris Pym
