Cambridge Global English Stage 1 Learners Book with Audio CD

This is a lovely book for teaching English to second language young learners. The themes are interesting and universally appealing to children (albeit a few concepts which are European) so kids should be able to relate to them easily. Themes include topics such as school, family, the farm, the five senses, transportation, weather and city life. Each chapter comes with a number of integrated concepts that practice speaking, reading and listening with ideas for projects, games and songs so it's a fully integrated course. The accompanying CD is also pretty good with listening material and songs. The only criticism I had while using the books was that there were limited writing activities in the book itself, although you could easily use the book to create activities of your own. I used these books with 8 year old children who were attending a government school but had limited conversational abilities in English. If children are already exposed to an English speaking environment, I would say this book is relevant for 6-8 year olds.
