Exactly what I needed
I live in town and the cell signal strength is fine here. My problem is the foil layers on my radiant barrier roof insulation cut my signal down to one bar inside the house. We were constantly having dropped calls and texts would take 15 minutes to go through. I read lots of reviews and decided to give this one a try. I was shocked at the huge range in price of the various solutions for this problem - from $100 to over $900. The system arrived nicely packaged with all the hardware I would need and then some. I installed the outside antenna in a dormer window in the attic, so no need for pole mount. The only problem I had was it came with ZERO instructions. I had to do trial and error to see which antenna to hook up to the connections on the amp unit. I had a 50/50 chance of getting it right the first time and I did! I installed the outside antenna in my attic looking out the dormer window. I ran the cable down through the attic and into my IT closet where I had the amp unit. I then ran the cable for the interior antenna back up to the attic where I was expecting to cut a hole in the ceiling drywall and install the interior dome antenna to provide the inside signal. Before I did that, I just laid the interior antenna face down on the floor of the attic. As it turned out, that's all I needed to do! The re-radiated signal gave us three bars inside the house without needing to actually mount the interior antenna in the ceiling.From reading the reviews, I can tell that some folks who live in fringe areas were expecting miracles, but my problem was different. I just needed to get an already strong signal into my house and past the foil layers on my radiant barrier insulation. This will probably work for folks with metal roofing too. The "technical" part of the setup was super easy, even without instructions. The hard part involves running the wires up in your attic and fishing them down walls to the amp unit inside the house. It was a minor hassle, but well worth the effort in my case. I'd give this five stars, but I must deduct one just because it came with no instructions.
