Great capacity, but has a few small issues
There's something about food cooked over an open fire. I was looking for a campfire grill that I could cook for a small group. This was great. The raised side kept things from sliding off and it was easy enough to use. We just swung it out of the way when not needed. The bag included with mine was big enough to put the grill into (including leaving the L bolt in place)Few things to note:1. I did not receive the glove or mitt. The box was a generic, but it doesn't appear to be a return.2. The "L" bolt/screw that holds the grill to the rod was difficult to screw in initially. Needed a large pair of pliers to screw it in the first time. After fully screwing it in, it worked ok.3. The "wrenches" that are included (to assemble the stake/rod) are useless. They bend easily and I tossed them. The threading on the two piece stake is questionable at best. A bit of wobble getting the threads started, but once it's put together and used, it doesn't come apart very easily. In fact, I decided to skip taking it apart and putting it in the included bag as it wouldn't fit without sticking out the side assembled. You'll also want your own wrenches to tighten it together as the ones included bent out almost instantly.Few notes on use: You need a heat protective glove or similar to adjust the height when it's hot. (These are supposed to be included, but as I've seen in a few other reviews, it appears that this is no longer the case) The grill is braced so I didn't notice any sagging, but I'd still be cautious of throwing a ton of weight on there. Use common sense - same with the heat of the fire. It's metal and an extremely hot fire (1000 degree+) may cause issues if left close to the fire for extended periods of time. I also kept it 12-16 inches above the fire and had no issues. I feel using it as intended and swinging it out of the way after use will be fine in the long run and overall, I'm happy with the grill. Is it perfect? no, but after a lot of comparison, it seems to be one of the best options I found.

Sturdy, easy, and useful. A must-have
We used this grill for a three-day Memorial Day camping trip and I could not be happier with my purchase. The setup consists of a few pieces. The support pole is in two pieces which thread together. The grill itself is all one piece plus the L-shaped bolt that secures it to the post. Also included are two small wrenches to assist with assembling and disassembling the pole, a carrying bag, and a mitt. Note that the fingers part of the mitt is so narrow that I could barely wear it, and I have small hands.-Sturdy stainless steel grill is very easy to clean. No paint or other coatings to worry about.-A half-turn of the L-bolt is enough to allow the grill to spin around the post for either positioning of the surface or to make room to add wood to the fire. A full 1-1.5 turns allow movement up and down. At the same time, I never felt like it was insecure or unsteady.-The grill surface is easy to remove and replace, even with a fire going. We left the post in the ground the entire weekend and simply added and removed the grill when needed.-The raised lip around the edge of the grill saved us from dropped food more than once. I went from seeing that as an ok feature to an essential one.-The 18" diameter was enough to cook food for six people without issue. Large enough to have plenty of space but not so big as to be unwieldy.-I don't think the oven mitt is made to fit human hands. I have small hands and my fingers were squished together to fit. But at the same time, that means I didn't care if it got sooty, singed, or "accidentally" thrown into the fire.I was hesitant to purchase this at first, looking for something a little cheaper. I'm glad I ended up with this as it is well worth the money and is sure to last us many years of camping. I highly recommend it.

Perfect grill for camping trips
When I first received the package, I noticed that the bag was dirty and a little ripped up and no other packaging inside the bag to protect the grill itself. It also did not contain the mit and cloth it was supposed to come with. I was clearly given a returned product that was then loosely "repackaged". This was 2 days before our planned camping trip, so I panicked a little, but Amazon replaced it and expedited the shipping for me so I can get it the next day. Because of the great customer service and the ease of remedying the problem, this little hiccup was a non-issue.Now on to the product itself. The grill was perfect for the trip. It was so easy to set up. Reading prior reviews, we were careful to use a wood block to hammer the pole into the ground so as to not dent the pole. Our first try, we didn't place it deep enough, so the pole started tilting, but after we drove it into the ground more, we didn't touch it again the whole weekend. The grill and support is strong and is able to hold the weight of a cast iron skillet while having other food on it. The rim around it protects food from falling off, but unfortunately does not protect food that are thinly sliced. I lost a couple of onion rings we were trying to grill for our burger. We were able to feed a party of 5 easily with this grill.Breaking down the grill was also extremely easy. I didn't have to use that much force to pull the stake out of the ground and was surprised how easy it came out considering how firm it stood throughout the whole trip. The bag is handy and I was able to just throw everything in during break-down in less than one minute.I definitely recommend this grill and compared to other grills based on price, durability, capacity, reliability and easy of set-up and this one checks all the boxes.

Easy to work with and sturdy
Having spent a week camping over the summer away in a group with other family members and using their flimsy portable BBQs, upon my return I set about finding something for myself that would be sturdy and compact. I came across the campfire grill and liked the look of its versatility and the fact that it's compact to transport. You obviously need to provide a heat source but I was already packing a fire pit in with our camping kit so this was a compact addition to create a BBQ.I managed to get the grill and use it on our final camping trip of the year which was a weekend in the middle of September. I have to say that it performed excellently. It is amazingly sturdy, easy to work with and the family I was away with were impressed. Two heavy duty metal rods screw together to form a stake in the ground which the grill simply slides onto allowing you to adjust the height up and down. You can then also rotate the grill out of the way of the heat source very easily if needed to load extra coal/wood. In the pack you get a couple of spanners to help you unscrew the two rods, an oven glove, a heat proof mat and a carry case. Whilst useful, the accessories aren't brilliant quality but serve a purpose and wouldn't put me off buying another one. All in all I'm very happy with it and look forward to using it next year. In fact, my gas BBQ at home hasn't weathered too well over the last few years and so I think I'll go back to coal and just use this in the garden!

My mom thought it was the best steak ever!
I've never cooked over a fire in the few times I've been camping since I started up with it - there is no way I'm using the fire grates at the provincial parks, they've always looked pretty iffy... I purchased this just before visiting my mom and I registered a nearby campsite for us to chill at and give this cooking-over-an-open-fire a go (not sleeping, mum doesn't do tent sleeping). We had a couple of steaks and I kept it simple, just kosher salt, I didn't want to mix anything exotic into the mix. Well I'm... not too good at making fires - it burned down and fired up and I almost went through an entire bag of wood and a bag of kindling BUT! It was awesome! Somehow they were perfectly cooked, not done too much, a nice crust... If all I use this for is cooking steak over an open fire I'll be... ... ... a happy camper. One note, I had a hard time with it staying upright but it was my first go of it so it could be user error. If the stick had a small... foot? Something to stick out like a snowshoe to help prop the grill up, that'd help. It was not super easy to clean but next time I'll bring something better to clean it with like a bigger sponge with a scrubbie side.Bag to pack it back up in is great too! Good company for thinking of that and including it. A great kit!

Perfect. The best design and build
The is the best grill you can buy. Me and most of my camping friends have been using these for years. They have seen many years of good use and not shown any signs of failing. It is strong enough to put pots and kettles on, nothing rolls off due to the lip, and being able to spin it round away from the fire to load/unload is genius.I usually build a cooking fire for dinner, then when we've done I just lift off the grill, leaving the stake in the ground so we can build up the fire for warmth. The next day you can just build the fire back up and slip the grill back on the stake for breakfast. Simple but so effective. This size on is perfect for a big family. I have seen the larger square one used but that seems only necessary if you were to be regularly feeding two large families.I cannot rate this highly enough. If everything in the world was designed and built as effectively as this, the world would be a happier place.

Not happy
I don’t like the finish of the welds and the piece that holds the rack in the stick was missing. The package looked like it was opened before because it was taped up.I am not happy with this.
