Perimeter Technologies Basic Ultra Comfort In-Ground Dog Fence

I have purchased and installed two of these systems now on two separate properties. Obviously satisfied enough to buy it a second time. Best truth I've seen posted after reading many reviews, good and bad, across multiple brands and having the experience of using this system myself is this:Any electronic fence is a "TRAINING AID" not a set it and forget it containment solution! We happen to have a smart, relatively submissive dog and we spent ALOT of time in supportive training mode. There are some dogs/owners no matter their intellect or disposition that this may not totally work for. From a technical standpoint my only comments are these: Strongly consider the expensive high grade wire. It is a totally different almost bombproof grade of wire. For the labor effort of burying the wire combined with the pain in the neck factor of locating a wire breach once it is buried makes the high grade wire a must unsell your system is small or the install is basically temporary as in my rental house situation. Main technical comment is that all collar units I have had just plain failed and quit working each in less than a years time. Fortunately they were both within the warranty period and they did promptly send warranty replacements, but that leaves you collarless for a week or so and having a smart dog, he went on a lot of "field trips" that week. Incidentally when I called in, I googled the customer service number and spoke to an actual person. Final comment is that they have successfully designed a unique battery which I could NOT replace with anything I could find anywhere, you are pretty much slaved into buying multipacks of their expensive batteries that do not last as long as I would hope :/ Despite those comments, overall the thing works well and we depend on it.

I bought a house with an aging Invisible Fence system. The sellers had lost the collars, so we tried getting a new compatible collar. The ones from Invisible Fence were crazy expensive. The ones from Perimeter wouldn't support the older transmitters. I ended up buying this setup for less money than a name brand collar, and now replacement Perimeter collars are much more reasonable. It took me about 15 minutes to swap out the transmitters. From that point forward, the system "just worked". I've had to tune it a little bit to my dog's behavior, but that's an issue with any drop-in replacement. As a final note, I originally bought Perimeter's "Invisible Fence Compatible" collar, which didn't work for me. I called up Perimeter, and the folks there were knowledgable, friendly, and very helpful. Top notch service.Pros: Less expensive setup with the same features as the major brands. Great customer service. Easy installation.Cons: Haven't found one yet.

As of now, I'm not a fan of this product. The fence only corrects my dog if he slowly walks up to the barrier. If he trots or runs up to the barrier, it doesn't correct him. I have it on the highest setting and a wide correction zone so there is time to correct him. I have tried calling their 1.800 number on multiple occasions, but I haven't been able to get ahold of anyone. I am stuck on hold for several minutes. Until I can come up with a solution, I can't recommend this product or their customer service.

Excellent, easy replacement for a 20 year old iF model. I needed new collars, receivers, and needed to be able to set strength and zone. It was way too expensive from the old vendor. This product fit the bill, installed easily in 15 minutes using the existing perimeter wire, and works great. The dogs do not run through at all, or get near, because the beeps are loud and the zone is 15 feet.

Beware! The unit does not come with training flags. If you need flags to aid in training, you’ll need to buy them separately. If you don’t need flags, it shouldn’t be an issue. For me, it was a significant inconvenience and slight additional cost. If ever needed, I will purchase a different brand in the future.

Great system with an audible beep- able to set the different collars at different levels is wonderful- we have the same size dogs but with different temperaments, it has kept one from being over corrected and scared and the other one actually on the property. The collared are a good size, not too heavy for our cockers.

Installed this at my old house, it worked well. Bought another when I moved.

This has been great to keep my two dobermans inside our perimeter. It took a long time to train but that's no fault of this product. Product has worked beautifully!
