Dove DermaCare Scalp Coconut & Hydration Anti-Dandruff Shampoo 12 oz

Refreshing coconut scent and real relief for dry, itchy scalps I’ve tried plenty of dandruff shampoos over the years, and Dove’s DermaCare Scalp Coconut & Hydration is one of the few that feels more like a salon shampoo than a medicated one. The coconut and lime scent is refreshing but not overpowering—it lingers just enough to leave your hair smelling clean for a day or two. The texture is rich and creamy, producing a thick lather that rinses easily without leaving residue. After the first couple of washes, my scalp felt noticeably calmer, and the itching subsided. Within a week, the flakes were almost completely gone. What I like most is that it hydrates without weighing down my hair. Many anti-dandruff shampoos tend to dry out strands or make them feel coated, but this one leaves hair soft, manageable, and with a healthy sheen. It also pairs really well with Dove’s matching conditioner for extra moisture, especially if you have thick or color-treated hair. It does have Pyrithione Zinc (the same active ingredient as Head & Shoulders), but the overall formula feels gentler. You can safely use it daily, though those with very fine or oily hair may find it slightly heavy after multiple consecutive uses. Bottom line: A soothing, great-smelling dandruff shampoo that actually delivers results while keeping your hair soft and hydrated. It’s a fantastic pick for anyone tired of the harsh, medicinal feel of traditional dandruff treatments.

This is the most AMAZING shampoo I have ever tried...the shampoo has thick, luxurious lather and is soothing to your scalp. For best results, buy the conditioner with it (explanation below)! I have always had dry skin (since a baby) and our pediatrician recommended only to use Dove moisturizing soap (the best!/trusted brand) on our skin. When I saw that Dove offered this shampoo for dry scalp, I decided to try and so glad I did! LOVE it. Where other shampoos that moisturize your scalp can make hair greasy, this one does not. In fact, it acts more like a clarifying shampoo and moisturizes your scalp at the same time. No itchy scalp! I have very thick, coarse hair and this shampoo tames frizz and makes my hair unbelievably soft. Be sure to buy the conditioner with it! One drawback I was able to overcome: For some reason, it makes the bottom shaft of your hair tangle/knot (don't know why). After washing my hair and scalp with the shampoo, I rinse a little shampoo out and then put the conditioner on bottom shafts of my hair (from about ears down) and run my fingers through my hair to easily get the knots out and just put some of the remaining conditioner (on my hands from detangling) on the top of my hair. Then rinse it all out (shampoo and conditioner all at one time). Amazing results and highly recommend this shampoo (and conditioner!!). Awesome!

I have dark, wavy, coarse hair and a dandruff problem. I am mortified when I brush my hair and see flakes escaping. Before this shampoo, I'd tried almost every major brand of dandruff shampoo, and either the thick, clay type consistency, unpleasant chemical feeling or smell made it so that I never stuck with a shampoo regularly. In order for these shampoos to be effective, they need used regularly, and if the consistency and scent are not pleasant, I will fail in this regard. This formulation, for an anti-dandruff shampoo, is the best one I've tried. It has a nice lather, doesn't feel chalky or clay like and the scent is OK - nothing overpowering or offensive. Essentially, I can live with both. It definitely lathers up a lot, and it did have a bit of a "sting" to it after I used it, but I found that was because I really needed to rinse better than I did. I don't think this is the best for my color treated hair, but I have to balance what I hate worse - grey hair or dandruff.

I love this shampoo. I personally have a really dry scalp and especially during the winter, am prone to having dandruff. After 3-4 uses of this shampoo, my dandruff was gone. It does a really good job at balancing my scalp out and never makes my scalp never feels dry or itchy after using it, which some other anti-dandruff shampoos can sometimes make my scalp feel. The smell is also so amazing and for someone who doesn't really enjoy the scent of coconut, it's saying a lot. The light coconuty smell is present but it isn't overwhelming and it makes my hair smell amazing for days on end. For the price and size of the bottle, I definitely recommend this product.

I HATE the way Selsun Blue looks, feels, and SMELLS so I was looking for a better, more natural alternative that doesn't cost a fortune. I'm so glad I came across Dove's Dermacare shampoo! It works way better than Selsun Blue in terms of dandruff/itchy scalp relief. It smells amazing and will leave your scalp dandruff-free and feeling fresh, clean, and moisturized.

My head was sensitive & itchy for the longest time & ive tried many shampoos / conditioners.. nothing was really working until I found this & matched it with the conditioner. This shampoo smells so good and really helps ur scalp. My sensitive itchy scalp now feels moisturized and new.

I’m not one to normally write reviews but I’ve been battling dandruff for almost a year and a half and I need to tell everyone about Dove. Ive never experienced dandruff before. Something changed after I had my second kiddo and my dandruff was out of control. It was so embarrassing to go out with flakes of skin sitting in my head. I had visible marks from where you could I scratched my scalp so much. I’ve tried it all and it nothing seemed to work. Tea tree oil, selsun, head and shoulders, and more. Nothing touched my dandruff. I had no idea that Dove made dandruff shampoo until I did a search for cruelty free products and this happened to pop up. Y’all, I wish I’d have taken before pictures so I could show you the amazing progress my scalp has made. I could cry tears of joy at how happy I am with the product. My dandruff is basically gone. I’ll continue to use the shampoo (and conditioner) to keep it that way. THANK YOU, DOVE!

Found the product to be very moisturizing and it smells heavenly. The only issue I found is that because the product is so moisturizing, in between washes my roots would look greasy whereas the rest of my hair looks perfectly fine. I have very thick wavy middle eastern hair so it might be an issue for my hair type of hair. I would definitely recommend before shampooing, taking a brush to really scrub your scalp to try to dredge up any extra or sneaky flakes. Then use this shampoo, scrub really well and make sure you rinse, rinse, risne! Then you’re good to apply the next step in your hair routine. My hairdresser taught me that process and between her recommendation and this product, I’ve seen fantastic results. No more embarrassing “snow” hair!
