Cool and helps
I needed to move and I was able to pack things in my Nissan suv and on top. It looked extremely cool and was easy to assemble. It was strong and sturdy. I didnโt hear any wind noise and would recommend purchasing due to value for money.

Awesome Rack and Extension for Chevy Tahoe
Awesome Rack, feels sturdy, should last no problem. I read the reviews before ordering, so I knew I needed to do a little work to this rack to make it rust resistant (Thanks to all who reviewed and made suggestions. I am very happy with how it looks on my 2005 Chevy Tahoe. Mine came on time (Awesome Amazon as always). Mine was not all scratched up. All the holes lined up without issue. my welds all looked good although they do not weld around fully around the pipes as it is probably not needed and keeps costs down. This didn't bother me as long as it holds up and I think it will be fine. I would recommend this to anyone willing to spend a little time/money making it rust resistant. I painted the Rack W/Extension with two coats of Rust-Oleum Flat black (3 cans $15) prior to assembly. I replaces all bolds, nuts. I purchased stainless steel bolts, Nylon nuts, and acorn nuts. (Bolts were M6-1.00 x 15mm, M6-1.00 x 25mm, M6-1.00 x 40mm, the Nylon Nuts/acorn nuts for both the bolts and u-bolts were M6-1.00 ($34 in stainless). I put it all together minus the wind screen. I then used black Silicone ($4.99) and filled in all the areas where water could get in/out (about 1 hour). Next I put the wind screen on and proceeded to mount it. I then proceed to mount the rack on the vehicle (used 10mm deep socket as other reviewer suggested). I intend to leave it in place, so I used the Stainless nylon lock nuts in place of the knob nuts on the U-bolts. I used my Dremel tool with cutoff disc and shortened the U-bolts above the nylon nut yet under the rack level and then caped the tops with stainless acorn nuts. I did the cutoff right on the vehicle to save having to take it off and put it back on. If installing on a Chevy Tahoe the fit is really tight, I had to move mounts in towards the center more to get it to fit in. The U-bolts do rub on the top of the vehicle and will probably rub through the paint in time (I'm ok with this). Over all the rack looks great is sturdy. I will test it tomorrow on our vacation and update after a month or so to see if it starts rusting or coming loose.

Great product at a great price.
This extension was very easy to install just make sure you remember to put the plates back on before you screw it all together if you want them installed. I forgot on one of them and had to take the screws back out to put it back on. This extension added quite a bit more space to the basket. I thought that I might be able to shorten it but due to its design that is not possible. I have the basket installed on a 2007 Tacoma 4 Door and it overhangs in the rear about 4 inches, and goes all the way to the start of the windshield in the front, but it works fine, and I am ok with the overhang.

Great Value, Strong, Well-Made, But May Not Fit Your Vehicle Exactly As Intended (Particularly If Its A Dodge Durango)
I bought this to go with the corresponding roof rack, for my 2015 Dodge Durango. It doesn't quiiiiiite fit the way it should; the completed roof rack sits on the car rails with just a little discrepancy in each direction. Please see my photos. My support bars are fixed on the vehicle (I can't change their location; I get one option) and are about 27" apart from inside to inside, which is a little narrow to me, for a perfect installation. The problem that comes into play is this; the joints where the extension piece here fits into the original rack is spaced a little differently than the rest of the rack. The bars that form the basket itself are a fixed distance, but where the joints are for this extension, there is a bigger space at those two spots. And if you need to use one of those wider-spaced joints as the connection to your own car rails, then it won't sit on the saddle quite right, and the u bolt won't screw to it quite right, and the strap tying it down won't go down quite right. For me, it's not a deal-breaker (I am surrounded by engineers who all believe it will be just fine with these discrepancies). So, to place this on my vehicle, I didn't want to set the whole cargo rack farther forward on my car; that would mean that if I put both connection/saddle junctures on my roof bars, the extended front third of the rack would be cantilevered out somewhat over my windshield, lifted upwards slightly, and have zero support under the front third of the basket. That didn't seem at all safe or correct for me. I tried setting it further back, so that neither connection would be involved in the car rails/bars, but then it interfered with opening the back hatch and the whale tale/antenna thing. So centered where I have it, this means that first (or front) "joint" is centered over a support bar (which means it rides slightly lower than the back support) and the back end is supported by the rear bar, without being on a "joint". I can tell these saddle pieces are constructed in such a way as to allow for variation in cross beams, and while I am not fully satisfied that my vehicle is what this is intended for, I am satisfied that everything is supported and strong, if a little hinky. I did go ahead and further reinforce the installation with some super-strong zip ties after reading another reviewer doing this, and the whole thing now feels extremely strong and tight. I will say that since I am in a dry state, I cannot fathom how this could ever rust (we haven't had appreciable rain in over a month) and I don't intend for this to be a permanent part of my vehicle, so I will not be doing any rust proofing. I also do not believe Loc-Tite is necessary on the nuts that connect this to the car; the nuts/u-bolts are stiff and you absolutely can't "spin" the nuts on, they require a hand crank for every turn, the bolt is a good inch to inch and a half past the nut when it is tight, and I cannot imagine they can loosen themselves at ALL. If there is a change in any of these factors I will certainly return to update my review. Overall, I am pleased with this, despite the fact that it doesn't quite fit. I think it's strong and well made, though like many reviewers, I was dismayed to see that the paint was already dinged up as I took it out of the box. Not sure why that would be, but of course it doesn't show up on top of my car, and since this won't be a long-term imstallation, I am not worried about the durability of the paint for an occasional road trip. Thank you very much!

Nice addition for some extra space on your cargo basket
I recently picked up an SUV that had a roof rail setup. I wanted to get some extra room and picked up a Curt cargo basket. Two things, it looked TINY of top of the SUV and it didn't fit the roof bag I had purchased in the past. This extension makes up for both issues. The 18117 adds just shy of 2 feet of length to the main basket (21 inches to be exact). Other then snapping on the plates to hide the gaps between the addition and the main basket and then screwing down a few screws, there is nothing else to do. It was quick and painless. The price was decent for a name brand such as Curt as well. I think this is a good addition if you are looking to hold more cargo up top on your SUV. I would recommend against using it on a car as it will most likely make the basket too long and it will hang over the front or rear windows. This is my first cargo basket and, while it is much cheaper than a Thule or similar higher end brand, it was half the price. I don't use it on a regular basis so it should hold up for quite some time, especially compared to the knock off brands that charge under $150 for a basket AND bag.

Nice rack ;)
I bought this to go with the curt cargo rack to put on top of my 2014 kia soul. It filled up almost the entire roof and looks great! The rack seems like it's well built although I haven't put anything in it yet to test it out. The only issue i had with fitment was that the back of the rack is sitting right up against my antenna and there's no way to move it any further away from it. (time will tell if this will be a problem) There is a small amount of wind noise but nothing too annoying. Also, the "nuts" that screw onto the end of the u-bolts are pretty crappy....the plastic is sharp in places and cuts the hell out of your fingers, not to mention they're fine threaded so it takes a toll on your wrist screwing 8 of these things on by hand. I would've felt more secure to have had something that i could've used a ratchet to put on instead of just hand-tightening. All in all, this is an excellent addition to my little camping rig and I'm very satisfied.

Fit is good and the unit is strong
Bought the 18115 and 18117. Assembly was simple. Fit is good and the unit is strong. I think a thread lock coating to keep the screws in place is a good idea. Attachment to my cross bars (Jeep Cherokee) worked well. The threaded ends of the U-bolts did need to be trimed so the bolts would not scratch the luggage, easy enough. This is understandable in that the rack is made to fit any vehicle and some bars are a greater diameter than others. I'm happy.

Awesome roof rack!! Best for the money!
Very well manufactured, I will be purchasing more Curt products after buying the extension (Part 18117) and the cargo basket (Part 18115). Tons of space, very deep and provides excellent cargo storage. I paid about $210 altogether for the whole setup. I wasn't expecting much seeing as Yakima and Thule baskets are $400-$500, with true "safari racks" running as much as $700-$1,000. This basket is just as good as the expensive ones, I also like the depth too, makes things much more secure. Great and useful hat for my '98 4runner, people always ask me about it and I always suggest it. Ditch those big name guys, that's all you're paying for anyways, a brand name. I carry a spare tire (I have 2 for overlanding) tools, shovel, ax, Hi-Lift jack, Etc. Perfect spot for a fire extinguisher (outside of the city, of course) Save yourself some hard earned cash and go with this cargo basket!

Buen producto
La relacion con el precio y su utilidad si es algo elevada, ya que sale casi lo mismo que la canastilla en si y solamente es una tercera parte de la canastilla, pero juntas la vdd hacen tienen una capacidad excelente

It fits!!!
I bought this along with the 18115 and the 18221 ... sometimes you have to force items like this to fit, but this fit perfectly ... they must use the same jig which is amazing! Build quality seems quite good!

Not bad, not perfect.
The finish on my extension piece is slightly different than on the rest of my rack. It's not as shiny and little more textured. Doesn't bother me, just weird. I think my extension was a return as box was taped up weird and the zipties inside were already cut, but the extension piece was in perfect condition so I don't really care. I think the rear piece of my rack was severely warped or bent or out of shape as this extension fit well with the front piece, but the back was almost impossible to line up. The back didn't fit well without the extension either. I used a ratchet strap to force the pieces together. Something to consider if you are buying this rack as others have seemed to have this issue. Overall I think the extension is pretty good. It makes the rack pretty big, probably 3/4 the length of my Ford Escape. Not sure I need a rack that big, but I like how it looks. I don't think there is anything better at this price.
