Huff: Season 1

High quality, but not really funny
I bought Season 1 of Huff because I've always enjoyed Hank Azaria's acting. He's very good in this as well; in fact, the entire cast is marvelous. My problem is that the show is advertised as a comedy-drama, but (even though it does have levity and even humor) it doesn't make me laugh. You know how when a sitcom advertises a "very special episode," that means it won't be funny this week? With Huff, every episode is "special," and they get progressively more "special." Toward the end of the season, it seemed to me more and more like a depressing soap opera. I just turned off the television partway through the third-to-last episode, and I'm done.Even so, I can't give the show a bad rating. It's very nicely done, obviously the sort of show that an actor would give their eye teeth to be cast in (and as I already said, the entire cast is utterly delightful). It's quirky, and I'm a big fan of quirky. I just wish that it had made me laugh now and then.

HBwho?
Whenever people talk about the great shows pay cable has to offer, they always talk about HBO. Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Sex and the City, Deadwood... Showtime never gets a mention, despite such great and innovative programs such as Dead Like Me, Jeremiah and now: Huff. With Huff, like all their shows, Showtime manages to make a show with conflicted, real characters without resorting to graphic sex or violence. The language is still as harsh as ever, but it's nothing you probably wouldn't hear in the course of a day if you were in these situations.Even if HBO gets all the press for their sex and violence, Showtime has another winner with Huff. Great stories, wonderfully real characters who - gasp! - make mistakes, amazing acting... Craig Huffstodt and Hank Azaria are two different people who happen to look and sound a lot alike, I must say. Paget Brewster is completely believable as the harried housewife and who would have thought Blythe Danner could be unlikeable?!Give this show a chance. The storylines don't resolve at the end of one episode, the characters strike realistically and behave much as you'd expect while you're hoping and praying they won't be that self-destructive.And hey, Bob Saget plays a drug-addicted former sitcom star in one episode. It's almost worth the price of the set alone. ;-D

Packaging looks original.
I have not opened the DVD set of Season one that arrived on time and looks to be in very good condition. Huff is impossible to find to stream from anywhere, it is as if Showtime has completely forgotten Huff exists.I watched Huff when the series originally aired on Showtime. I love Hank Azaria and became a fan of Azaria after watching his performance in Huff.Me, my wife and daughter all went to see the Broadway production of Spamalot starring Hank Azaria. Unfortunately Azaria was not in the cast that evening. But after the show while my wife was in the ladies room, who walks into the theater, Mr. Hank Azaria. I stopped Hank Azaria and shook his hand, telling him how much I enjoyed Huff and how sad we were that we saw Spamalot on Hank's night off.

A very good program
I confess. I never watch TV situation series. I hate commercials and don't need to watch or care who is dating whom. I saw that Anton Yelchin was in this series and bought it, and without commercials, I enjoyed it all. Anton, as I have said a million times, is an actor to watch. I heard he is co-starring in a new picture. It was in the Los Angeles paper. Good for him. He started young like Brad Renfro, even younger than Brad. He co-starred in FRIGHT NIGHT with Colin Farrell. He has been with major stars in most of his films. I enjoyed HUFF, but I won't buy anymore TV series. Unlike movies, once you watch a series, you never have to watch it again. Movies I can watch over and over and over.

I really liked this one!
I bought this on a recommendation, and I am glad I did! The story glides from drama to humor with ease. The characters are well developed and then get better defined with each passing episode.Things get complicated for Huff with every episode, and still he manages to keep a stiff upper lip and forges headlong into every misfortune the writers of the show can come up with. Huff, in a nutshell is a Psychologist whose family is indirectly torn apart by an unfortunate suicide in Huff's office. As you might guess, Huff also plays confessor to his family and friends, which can be awkward, but also highly entertaining.I look forward to the 2nd season someday!Buy this DVD, and then veg for a weekend marathon of Huff.

A Great Show That Got Canceled Way Too Soon
"Huff" is (was) a show about a psychiatrist and his family who have to cope with everything from the suicide of a patient, to infidelity, to breast cancer. It truly is a shame that this show got canceled. It's hilarious, well-acted, and sexy! It stars Hank Azaria (who also produced) ("The Simpsons", "Godzilla"), Paget Brewster ("Criminal Minds", "The Big Bad Swim"), Anton Yelchin ("Criminal Minds"), Oliver Platt ("Lake Placid"), Blythe Danner, Andy Comeau ("Criminal Minds"), and Lara Flynn Boyle ("Amerika", "Men In Black 2"). I highly recommend it!I wish it had more special features, though...

Wonderful and amazing show!
I adore this show/series. This was a great investment and I am planning to get the second series very soon. It's just disappointing that there are only two seasons (to my knowledge). Huff, the main character is great. In fact, all the characters are amazing. Wish there were more shows like this!

Huff muss man lieben...

good if not utterly believable
This is a good enjoyable show for whiling away those winter midweek evenings.Huff himself is self-obsessed and narcissistic. Even more annoying is the fact that everyone else accepts this unquestioningly and makes him the centre of their universe. He is not particularly likeable as a character.Russell however is great, and the best part of the show.Byrd is a moron, and is so sickly sweet he could guest star on 7th Heaven. Some of the plot is entirely unbelievable and contrived.Yet for all that is entertaining and relaxing, although nowhere near the quality that some reviewers believe it to be. 5 stars should surely be reserved for the likes of The Sopranos and The West Wing and this programme is not even in that league. But we got a plenty of enjoyment out of it for £8 and it is a pity they are not releasing Season 2 on DVD.

Great mix of doctor and legal issue drama.
One of my best ever "value for money" purchases.Good storylines and acting told in a manner that an 18 rated DVD can. It's a pity the series was cancelled after season 2 without story lines being finalized properly.Don't seem to care about the millions of fans who do follow the show.

I wish I could give this superior show more than 5 stars
I wish I could give this superior show more than 5 stars! The cast are phenomenal. The writing and direction are fantastic. There were scenes where I laughed so hard and others where I was sobbing. I wish this had gone on for more seasons than 2.
