NYX Professional Makeup Loose Pearl Eyeshadow, Mink, 0.192 Ounce

Love this eyeshadow. Good customer service. The first one they shipped me through USPS said delivered but I never received it, once I contacted them they were quick to get me another one shipped out that I did receive.

First, I am very fair with light blond eyebrows and lashes. Eyeshadow that looks understated on someone else can make me look like a circus clown.That being said, I love these shimmery colors. I realized that well-applied eyeshadow makes my makeup look much more polished and pulled together. But I didn't have much experience with loose eyeshadow powders.These are wonderful. I agree with "Almost Perfect" that the nude pearl with walnut is a great look. On me, the nude pearl with judiciously applied Oro (a light copper) at the crease line and blended into the lower lid, with a touch of walnut just above the crease line, is very nice.Pros: Nice shimmer, nice hues, a LOT of quantity packed into a tiny bottle.Cons: Needs primer to stay put, is a light fluffy powder that drifts easily so it takes just a tiny bit of care not to get it on one's cheeks, is packed in a non-usable bottle so one needs another container (see below).** Here is what I wish I knew to begin with (or wish that I had paid attention to) **1) Yes, these really do need different containers.  SE 87136DB 30-Piece Plastic Storage Container  are working really well for me. I just could not evenly apply them out of the bottle. The powders are light and fluffy; so be warned - you might have to use a paper towel underneath when transferring them.2) And yes, it is not even worth using these without a primer. I have discovered that it is not worth putting on any eyeshadow without a primer because it does not last all day. (I did a comparison between Elf and Urban Decay /NYX and Urban Decay primers. On my skin, the difference was so dramatic that I could not leave the house without re-applying the Urban decay to the other lid.)3) Just like nail polish - several light coats are much better than one thick one.4) One needs to tap the brush after picking up the powder - these are very light and can fall off to the cheek.5) And if it lands on one's cheeks anyway, a secondary purpose for that weird makeup brush that looks like a flat triangle is to flick the shadow off rather than rubbing it in. That brush is worth its weight in gold.6) A few good brushes are essential. I love the big E60 brush from Sigma  Sigma Large Shader - E60  and this really inexpensive set with really nice brushes  Bellus 13 Piece Makeup Brush Set and Case  which I bought for a little under $13 on sale on Amazon. Using cheap foam applicators were not doing the trick for me.7) Practice was my friend. It is not difficult, but I needed to get the hang of these brushes and applying a smooth application with the right colors/right amount of layering.8) If I apply a few layers of light shadow, I can blend almost any darker shadow into it and still have a muted look. Or, I can apply a few layers of darker shadow without the light and look pretty intense. I love the options. But light-first is essential for a soft, muted look.9) Speaking of blending, I learned to blend blend blend. It only takes about 5 seconds but it makes a lot of difference.I hope this is helpful to other loose eyeshadow "newbies".

After trying NYX eyeshadow base from a local cosmetics shop I looked for other NYX products - sadly the selection locally was limited so naturally I checked out Amazon. I decided to buy the loose eyeshadow in several colors and found that they offer very good coverage, excellent shimmer and easy to mix and match colors. The really great thing about loose powder is that you can apply it over lipstick, for example, applying blue or purple over red lipstick to create a very shimmery lavender, purple, or just a irridescent red. After playing around with the powders tonight I am ordering more colors right away.There is a drawback though: you will find the little jars the pigments come in have very narrow mouths, making it impossible to use all but the narrowest of brushes. So, you need to order separate wide-mouth containers for use with makeup or art supplies, containers such as these:[...]When you get the powders and containers home, you will want to transfer the pigments into the containers. Open the container and place it on the cloth, and then open the jar of eyeshadow, turn it upside down over the container and tap it gently with a makeup brush handle or pencil or similar-shape item, and gently keep tapping until you fill the container, then when the container is full (it will probably fill the container twice because it is really packed into the jars - NYX gives you a surprising amount for the money!). It will be messy but it will make the colors easier to work with.The good points:* Excellent, rich pigment* Loose powder makes it easy to mix and make your own colors* Great value for the moneyThe bad points:* The packaging is horrible, and difficult to get product out ofAs with most loose powders, you will want to use an eyeshadow base. I've been using NYX for a while with both NYX and other brand eyeshadows and it really provides a great base giving it good staying power.
