Very okay magnet can pick up moat small Items. Fish hooks, nails, fishing lures etc. But one pick up anything big.

Strong but not quite true 300lbs per side.
This is a very powerful magnet but not 300lbs per side I tested it on a 250lb 3/8 inch thick steel piece and it broke loose. I haven't tried a 200lbs yet but plan to.

600lbs, more like 6 lbs on a good day
Was really excited to get my magnet in and test it out. Not sure how they test these things, but anything bigger than a set of keys it would struggle to bring up. I assume it has to be perfectly flat surface making full contact and clean of any residue (which isn't likely in a lake). I did bring up a kids fishing pole but it was like playing the game operation as any slight jostle, it would fall off. Anything heavier is still at the bottom waiting for me.

Not a strong as it says
This works awesome. Very durable. Definitely have to make sure where ever you're tossing it the magnet is on the correct side for pulling. We pulled up several bikes with this magnet and lots of misc things.
