I really appreciate this book, my feedback as a 'non-biological' parent is that there is pretty much zero focus on what we contribute to our child/children. Other than that I really enjoyed reading this to my daughter. She is 4, nearly 5 and this seems to be at a great level for her. She is engaged and asks questions, and loves to hear that she's not the only person with a 'different' family.

Book needs extra pages for Parent's info can be removed
Hi, Since you included a handwritten note asking for a review - here it is on our second attempt to buy this book. I want these kind of books to exist! In this one, the parent instructions were fine HOWEVER, we could not remove them without taking with it the first page of the story or cover page. I did not necessarily want my kids to read the parents instructions which I may or may not agree with. Please add a couple of pages or include these separately. The story is fine and helpful. Thanks for persisiting! This is the review of the first time we ordered:But wow, the first copy we got was sabotaged! Someone cut 1/2 of the chicken dinner cookbook and mixed it with 1/2 Zak's Safari. The first page read "Chicken Dinners" and the second "I once was a chicken." Not really how I wanted to explain the two mom conception story to my kids. It was almost comical so I reordered - see my second review to see what I recommend on that book that could use an improvement, but was not botched the way this one was. (I wonder if someone got 1/2 cookbook that then started talking about eggs and sperms?)

Arrived slightly damaged.
Delightful story but I was really disappointed to receive my copy with a slightly bent up cover. Especially when you take good care of your books and want a family story like this one to last, it's frustrating that it was damaged from day 1. Probably would have given 5 stars if not for that. I like how the book gives no misinformation about how babies are born but it is presented in a way little ones can grasp. Some of the illustrations seem "fuzzy" or like they are out of focus which I don't like, but the drawings themselves are cute and in general this is a good one for two mom families.

I think this book is great for all families as a very beginning primer conversation to "how are babies made?" I think they should write more books from other couples' experiences to really illustrate how all families look different but with the same language and style. Great job. I am a single mother and share this story with my 4 year old who has really seemed to embrace the story well and hasn't put new ideas into his head that he is not yet ready for. I do adapt some of the language, ie to say "man" and "woman" as opposed to "mother" and "sperm donor."

Perfect for our family
We love this book. It's perfect for our child's conception story, and even has a space in the back to write in our own details unique to our family.

Great story, perfect way to make my kids feel more "normal"
This book is very cute and explains where babies like mine come from. The concepts are a bit too difficult for my two year olds to grasp now, but I'm sure as they get older it will help them immensely.

Beautiful story, but a big conversation starter ...
Looking for a book to increase diversity in our school I thought this might be a good one in a similar vein to "And Tango makes three". I was not prepared for the lovely chat about sperm and eggs. So, sadly I can't use this book at school, but would be a great one for parents to have to chat to their children with.

It's excellent as a tool to promote discussion
This is a superb book, our son loves it and has read it several times over. It's excellent as a tool to promote discussion. The language is simple and engaging, the illustrations are wonderful. The family reflected ours in many ways, and it was great for our son to see that and identify with it. I have no hesitation in recommending this book to anyone with a donor-conceived child. Brilliant!

Beautifully illustrated and well written. We plan to use to give our child a consistent message about her conception in the future

Amazing quality
Genuinely lovely book with gorgeous pictures. It dealt with the subject matter shockingly well. I wish every kid read this and not just kids with two moms. It would open up their world :)

Great introduction to the concept of a donor
This is the best book yet, so fit for our family. We started reading this to our daughter just about when she turned 3 yrs old. It is a great explanation of donor, and of genes (in a child friendly way, but very helpful to help discussions as to why child looks a bit different than bio Mama). I think this book helped our daughter realize there are others like her, and she is 'normal'. We loved the pictures of the two Moms too...they had such natural and loving poses.
