Good Book for Intro Class
I've used Myers textbooks for 2 years now (Ed. 7 for AP Psych in High School, and this edition for Psych 1 in college). Myers produces all of the necessary information for studying the course in nice, easy-to-navigate through sections (entitled "modules"). It's a great textbook for an intro Psych class, and makes a great study tool with questions that pertain to each section. Myers writes in a scientific and psychological perspective, but somehow manages to do it without making it too dry by throwing in real world examples and case studies. So overall, this is a great textbook for a starter class. I highly recommend it... (not that I can choose what textbook your professor selects!)Also, make sure you get the hardbound version. The paperback version that I received in high school took a beating and the value went down so much that I had to pay for damages >_<.Hope this helps!

Nice for intro or non-psych majors
I took a psychology class in high school that bored me to tears so I put off taking college psych as long as I could. I ended up having to take an online psych class due to time constraints and was really worried I would be too bored to do the readings but with this book I actually found most of it very interesting. I liked how they used a lot of real world examples that I could relate to and had interesting visuals. The book also had a good flow and logical progression of topics. I would recommend this book and I guarantee you can get all of your textbooks cheaper online than at the school bookstore.

Post Psych 102 Review
First I must talk about how the psychology class worked out for me. I took Psych 102 in Spring 2011 and I passed with an A because I am excellent at memorizing hard facts. At least for my class, it was multiple choice questions asking about vocabulary or identifying vocabulary based on a description. For example, one question may tell you the symptoms or observations made about a person's behavior and would ask which disorder they may most likely have. Another question may be Psychology is the: a) study of life b) study of human mind and its functions c) study of river currentsThe book itself is a moderate read. A chapter may be 5 or even 15 plus pages. Most of the information may be long explanations and they give many real life examples to decrease reading boredom. Personally, I would prefer juts a book that bangs out the bare specifics of what I need to know about each thing. However, they do a good job for those that like a concept described in different ways. They may provide a scientific definition, a short anecdote, or a connection between concepts to improve understandability. The layout is nice the chapter is broken up into key concepts or single area subjects. Most of the bolded words appeared on the test. However, any capitalized, italicized or standout words/names/etc were on the test. For my teacher, she asked several questions on who found out what in addition to the thing that they found out. A list of names with contributions to psychology will be helpful addition to chapter notes.Overall, the book is a good read and the class was very interesting. Hopefully the readers of this review will also have decent teachers and most of all, good study habits. Good luck and get that 4.0
