Quadra-Fire 1" Ceramic Insulation Blanket

I ordered this for my QuadraFire 5700 Step Top ACT woodstove and it is working great. My stove is in the basement and heats the entire basement and the first floor so it gets a lot of use in the colder months. I have been using this stove since 2006 and when cleaning the chimney this year we noticed the baffle board and fiber blanket were disintegrating so we decided to replace them. Just an FYI for do-it-yourselfers, this product will most likely need to be cut to the specifications for your stove, but it is very easy to do. For my stove it needed to be cut to 20 1/8 inch by 20 1/8 inch. I used a square to measure and marked it with a marker by placing a series of dots along the cut line ((it you try to draw a line you will damage the layers of fiber, at least that was my experience). I used heavy duty titanium shears to cut through the ceramic fibers of this blanket (it is like fiberglass insulation, but much more dense). I was able to make a clean cut and I just followed the manufacturer's instructions for installation (removed the front two baffles and baffle board since I also replaced that). It has been in for a couple of weeks now and is working great. I am sort of a "handy woman", but this was so easy anyone could do it as long as you follow the instructions for installation to make sure the blanket is laying flat on the baffle board and pushed to the back of the stove (at least for my model stove).

The blanket is big (we can get 3 sheets for our Quadra stove) and easy to cut with a pair of scissors. I suggest that you use gloves to avoid getting splinters. Relatively easy to install once I figured it out and the increase in stove performance was noticeable.
