The calipers are simple to use and a handy body fat tracker
I would say this product ultimately deserves 4.5 stars. I am a big fan of how simple the calipers are to use, and I plan on using both the tape measure and calipers regularly in order to track my fitness progress.Disclaimer: I received this product at a discounted rate in exchange for my fair and honest review. The discount did not influence my rating in any way (except to lead me to purchase this particular brand over the alternatives). The reason for the small deduction is that the tape measure does not start at 0, but rather the first 1.8 inches or so are wrapped up into a little nub on the end of the tape. My best guess for why this is is that earlier reviews of the product complain about this nub breaking off, so I'm guessing that more of the tape was stuffed into the nub to prevent it from coming loose from the tape. It just means that I ultimately perform the measurement lines up to the 2" line, and then subtract 2" from the obtained measurement. Not a big deal.A forewarning about calipers: they are not an exact science. But as long as you are consistent about how you are measuring the body fat, they can give you a pretty good sense that fat loss is actually occurring, even if they can't give you an accurate absolute sense of how much body fat you have.In case you're like me and immediately throw away instructions, I have attached images of the instructions and body fat % table that came with the calipers (now I can refer back to this review and recycle my copy of the instructions, too).Update: bumping up to 5 stars! I just realized why the 2 inches were missing from the tape. Basically, if you put the nub into the hole on the measure, it makes a circle, which makes it easier to measure around a body part. The two inches are accounted for in the distance between the nub and the hole the nub is inserted into.

Useful and decent quality for under $10
- As noted in some of the other reviews, this is a very useful product for measuring body size and composition changes.- The items seem a tad flimsy, but considering the price, I think they are of a fair quality.- The locking of the measuring tape isn't precise, so you'll have to look at the measurement while the tape is still wrapped around the body part being measured.- The callipers do not seem to produce the clicking sound they are supposed to, so it may be difficult to apply a consistent pressure between readings. Personally, I try to ensure consistency by pinching to the point of discomfort. I saw an earlier review that said "the click is too soft to hear under normal circumstances", but even holding the callipers right beside my ear I cannot hear even the faintest hint of a click.

You get what you pay for ($10) or maybe less.
I chose this as the cheapest way to get a body fat caliper and tape measure combo, and I wish I had spent more to get a better product. The caliper has no audible feedback to know when to stop squeezing; ostensibly, it is supposed to "click" when the correct force is reached. I can make it work by feeling the very slight change in sensation in my fingertips when the force arm touches the caliper arm, but it requires multiple measurements and no distractions to be able to get an accurate reading. The tape measure works fairly well, but the knob tends to slip from the retainer, requiring extra care to avoid having to restart the measurement. It's also not clear where to read the measurement (seems to be where the tape goes into the winding mechanism), so there is always a measurement error of +/- 2mm or so. Because the inches measurement is on the inside of the tape, you can't read it. Not a problem if you only want to use metric. Also, my 2-year-old played with it for about 10 seconds (pulling out the tape and pressing the release to let it zip back in fast) before the internal ratchet broke. The tape still works, but is much harder to use when it always wants to zip closed on its own.

Flimsy misalighned caliper, broken tape measure retractor after 1 use. you get what you pay for.
Very cheap and flimsy. I am trying to be really nice here, ok. The tape measure was broken the first time I used it. The craftsmanship of this flimsy combination is below ameteur, the numbers dont line up right, the tape measure is even different when compared to a ruler. At some points smaller and at some areas larger. Its pretty bad. I would say that it could get the job done if you were in the habit of making lots of guestemations on everything, but thats not why you'd even consider buying it. This product has one job and thats to measure a proper value. It fails! If youre a personal trainer or think you might use it weekly for tracking progress, then just spend another couple bucks and get a better one. This one is so cheap and flimsy and misaligned, its a complete waste. A Paper E6B calculator is better quality than this. I am very surprised to see all the other reviews. With the Ozeri pack its evident " You Get What You Pay For"

Hits the mark
Products arrived timely and efficiently packed. The measuring tape is very intuitive and easy to use, only minor downside is that the outward-facing side of the tape is the metric side (cm), which didn't really bother me but may for some people. The calipers seem well constructed and come with a nice little slip detailing the procedure and a chart for the ideal BF% range by age. I don't know that they would hold up to heavy use if one was a trainer or fitness consultant and used them multiple times/day but for the average personal user they should to the trick. The slide on the measurement scale holds the minimum measurement after the calipers are released which is a nice function. FYI they do take a little practice to get the technique down, especially if you're a male trying to measure on yourself.Overall, both products were as described and should prove valuable in tracking my fitness progress.
